Various embodiments disclosed relate to a device for insertion into the urethra for dilation. The present disclosure includes methods and devices including a device for at least partial insertion into a prostate, the device including first and second elongated members each having at least one magnetizable or magnetic element. The first and second elongated members are magnetizable to repel each other to dilate a lumen therebetween.

URINARY CATHETER OR PLUG AND METHOD FOR MANAGING URINARY INCONTINENCE
20230036376 · 2023-02-02 ·

The disclosure provides a device and method for managing urinary incontinence. The device includes a platform, a balloon, and a valve. The platform and balloon can include a silicone material, a thermoplastic material, and an adhesive and/or a cement for sealing the urethra. The thermoplastic and silicone materials can soften at the body temperature so that their shape can be adapted to fit the three-dimensional contour of surfaces of the urethra. The balloon seals the internal orifice of the urethra, and the platform can block the leakage associated with the balloon. The valve permits selective urine voiding. The method includes inserting the device into the urethra and the bladder. The method can also include inflating the balloon. The method can further include pulling the balloon so that the balloon is in sealing contact with the neck of the bladder and moving the platform to a suitable position for sealing the urethra.

Body Cavity Access Device

A handheld body cavity access device includes a handle having a distal end, a proximal end, a longitudinal axis, and a cavity. A dilator assembly has a proximal end coupled to the handle and a distal end. A blade assembly is at least partially disposed within the dilator assembly and has a proximal end, a distal end, and a blade hub coupled to the proximal end and disposed in the cavity of the handle. The dilator assembly is movable axially between a retracted position, in which a distal end of the blade assembly extends from the distal end of the dilator assembly, and an extended position, in which the distal end of the blade assembly is covered by the distal end of the dilator assembly. The blade hub includes a body defining a bore aligned with the longitudinal axis and a tab extending away from the longitudinal axis.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DRAINING CYSTIC FLUIDS FROM JOINTS
20220347444 · 2022-11-03 ·

A method and apparatus for treating a synovial cyst is disclosed. The method includes determining a presence and location of a cyst within a body, penetrating the cyst through a penetration bore to release a synovial fluid accumulation from within the cyst. A suction is applied to the cyst to via the penetration bore to extract a volume of the fluid accumulation from within the cyst. A weeping tube is inserted in the penetration bore to communicate synovial fluid from the cyst to maintain the cyst in a depressed condition for a predetermined temporal period. The weeping tube an external sidewall and an interior channel configured to communicate a synovial fluid from the synovial cyst. A plurality of protrusions about the external sidewall engage with a body tissue surrounding a penetration bore in the body tissue to retain the weeping tube at a desired placement within the penetration bore.

Systems and methods for using negative pressure wound therapy to manage open abdominal wounds

Embodiments disclosed herein are directed to the treatment of wounds using negative pressure. Some embodiments disclosed herein provide for a foam pad, which may be suitable for use in abdominal wound sites, and which may be sized in a dimensionally-independent manner. Additional embodiments provide for a wound contact layer, as well as a system for the treatment of abdominal wounds.

Systems and methods for inducing negative pressure in a portion of a urinary tract of a patient

Ureteral or bladder catheters are provided, including (a) a proximal portion; and (b) a distal portion, the distal portion including a retention portion that includes one or more protected drainage holes, ports or perforations and is configured to establish an outer periphery or protective surface area that inhibits mucosal tissue from occluding the one or more protected drainage holes, ports or perforations upon application of negative pressure through the catheter. Systems, kits and methods for inducing negative pressure to increase renal function also are provided.

Urinary catheter-insertion kits with integrated instructions for use and methods thereof

Urinary catheter-insertion kits can include a working tray, a storage tray, a urinary catheter, and a drainage system including drainage tubing and a drainage receptacle. The working tray can be configured to nest with the storage tray by suspending the working tray from the storage tray. At least the working tray includes a number of preformed sections configured to hold a number of components of the urinary catheter-insertion kit. At least one section of the preformed sections of the working tray includes a catheter section configured to hold the urinary catheter. The storage tray can be configured to hold the drainage system. Methods of urinary catheterization include use of the urinary catheter-insertion kits.

Balloon Blocker for Occlusion and Suction

Embodiments disclosed herein are directed to a drainage system for draining a fluid from a patient where the system includes a drainage tube that provides fluid communication between a catheter and a collection container. The drainage tube includes a port and a balloon attached to an interior of the drainage tube, where the balloon is configured to receive air from a needle that has pierced the port and occlude a lumen of the drainage tube. When in an inflated state, the balloon occludes the lumen of the drainage tube thereby breaking the fluid communication between the catheter and the collection container and preventing the output airflow device from drawing airflow out of the catheter. The balloon may be attached to the interior of the drainage tube by surrounding an interior side of the port.
