The devices include a drainage tube and a reversible, bi-stable switch mechanism that includes first and second stationary magnets spaced apart from one another and a magnetic or ferromagnetic mobile element moveably disposed in a channel in the housing.

STABILIZER FOR AN INSERTED CATHETER AND METHOD FOR INSTALLING THE STABILIZER
20230218865 · 2023-07-13 ·

A catheter stabilizer and a method for installing the stabilizer are especially suited to retaining a catheter in its position of insertion into the body of a patient. The stabilizer is a laminate of clear film atop double-backed adhesive preferably atop peel-off release paper. The double-backed adhesive defines a viewing window through the stabilizer. The stabilizer and method reduce preparation-of-materials steps, eliminate performance of arbitrary, awkward or inconsistently-performable installation steps, result in predictably effective catheter-to-patient connections, mitigate against the likelihoods of migration of the catheter out of the incision or expansion of the length of the incision during and after installation, create a sterile environment to the area surrounding the point of penetration of the catheter into the anatomy, extend the effective life of the installation, reduce the risks of complications and costs associated with replacement of a catheter and enable a rapid and sound installation.

METHODS FOR TREATING ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE
20230218812 · 2023-07-13 ·

A method and system for treating Alzheimer's disease wherein blood, spinal fluid or brain cavity fluid is circulated into and outside of the body by means of blood pumps or other external circulatory systems. While passing through the pumping system, the amyloid plaques and Tao tangles are filtered from the fluids and returned to the body lowering the protein levels, and in the process, reduce symptoms. In one embodiment a patient's blood is filtered using a pump to circulate the blood from the patient to the collection vessel where an electrical current will cause anything that has a positive charge to be attracted to a cathode plate suspended in the collection vessel for later disposal. In an alternate embodiment a patient's brain and/or spinal fluid a pump operates to circulate a flushing fluid. The pump will circulate the solution from the collection vessel to the patient.

AN INDWELLING CATHETER SYSTEM

An indwelling pleural catheter system comprises an indwelling catheter device (2) comprising a catheter tube (7) with a fenestrated distal end (7A) configured to reside in the pleural cavity of a subject and a connection hub (10) fluidically coupled to a proximal end (7B) of the catheter tube, a skin anchoring member (3) to anchor the connection hub (10) to the skin of the subject, and optionally a detachable ambulatory suction module (4) configured for detachable attachment to the connection hub (10). The suction module (4) comprises a fluid inlet (19) configured for fluidic coupling to the catheter tube (7) through the connection hub (10) and a fluid outlet (20) configured for detachable fluidic coupling to a pleural fluid drainage system (5) to drain pleural fluid through the detachable ambulatory suction module. The detachable ambulatory suction module is configured to exert a negative pressure in the catheter tube upon detachment of the pleural fluid drainage system from the suction module. Treatment of pleural effusion using the system of the invention is described. An indwelling catheter system for draining fluid from the peritoneal cavity, and methods of treating ascites, is also described.

ELASTIN FORMATION USING FIBROUS IMPLANTS
20230210539 · 2023-07-06 ·

A cardiovascular fibrous implant for rebuilding elastin and the use of such an implant, wherein the implant is comprised of fibers forming a network, and wherein the fibers comprised in said network have a fiber diameter of 150 μm or less.

CATHETER FOR MONITORING PRESSURE

A catheter insertable into a cavity of a patient for monitoring pressure including a first lumen for drainage from the cavity and an expandable balloon. The balloon has a liquid containing chamber to monitor pressure within the cavity of the patient as pressure on the outer wall of the balloon deforms the balloon and compresses the liquid within the balloon. An exit port provides passage of air from an interior of the balloon to outside the catheter. A membrane has plurality of pores dimensioned to enable passage of air but prevent passage of the liquid therethrough. A pressure sensor communicates with the liquid containing chamber for measuring pressure based on compression of liquid caused by deformation of the expanded balloon.

Method and device to improve hydrocephalus shunt systems
20230211135 · 2023-07-06 ·

A method and device used to improve the operation of a hydrocephalus shunt system based on the use of alpha and beta radioactive isotopes implanted in the critical zones of the shunt in order to prevent the deposition of organic matter such as blood cells, tissue, or bacteria, thereby clogging the system and causing malfunction.

Devices and methods for the treatment of heart failure
11690609 · 2023-07-04 · ·

A device for treating heart failure in a patient. The device comprising a body, at least one passage through the body, at least one one way valve in the passage and a mounting means adapted for mounting the body in an opening provided in the patient's atrial septum. In use, the device is oriented such that, when the patient's left atrial pressure exceeds the patient's right atrial pressure by a predetermined amount, the one way valve(s) opens to allow blood flow through the passage(s) from the left atrium to the right atrium to thereby reduce the left atrial pressure.

Stent delivery system

An stent delivery system may include a delivery device and a tubular body having a lumen sized to slidably fit about an outer diameter of the delivery device and a drainage stent having an anchoring mechanism, wherein the delivery device includes a constraining member configured to engage an external portion of the tubular body at the proximal end of the delivery device. A method of delivering a stent may include inserting a tubular body into the port of an endoscope, inserting a stent delivery device and a stent having an anchoring mechanism into the tubular body, wherein the delivery device includes a constraining member configured to engage and retain the tubular body at the proximal end of the delivery device, advancing the drainage stent distally through the tubular body, sliding the tubular body proximally, and engaging an external portion of the tubular body with the constraining member.
