Temporary tattoos for indelible endorsement
Embodiments of the present invention provide a temporary tattoo, appliqué or decal and a method of using the tattoo on a patient to identify on that patient a selected operative site, wherein said operation is identified by name on said decal and wherein the accuracy of site selection may be endorsed by the patient and the responsible operator directly on the selected site in such a manner that the endorsement indicia remain legible after the decal is eradicated.
Stick applicator
A stick applicator for applying a liquid stored in a hard ampoule, comprising a hollow plastic stick body, designed for receiving the ampoule and having a closed end and an open end, the wall of which is sufficiently flexible to allow the ampoule held in the plastic stick body to be broken without using an implement and thereby let the liquid out into the interior of the plastic stick body, and comprising an applicator head, which is fitted on the open end of the plastic stick body and comprises a foam, felt or fibre body, wherein the plastic stick body has at least in certain portions a separate sheathing layer to increase its perforation resistance to ampoule fragments and near its open end retaining means for securely holding the applicator head and/or retaining means for securely holding the ampoule inside it.
DISPESNING DEVICES FOR TOPICAL PHARMACEUCTAL COMPOSITIONS
The present invention provides devices for dispensing topical pharmaceutical compositions. In some embodiments, the dispensing device possesses a reservoir for storing the composition and means for metering the composition. In some embodiments, such reservoirs are: i. made from, or substantially lined with, a material that opaque and/or substantially nondepleting of at least one component of the composition; ii. optionally, volumetrically compressible; and iii. fitted with the means for metering the composition. And the means for metering are adapted to measure a fixed amount of the composition for application to a dermal region of a user of the device. In some embodiments, the compositions has a specific gravity in the range of from about 0.85 to about 1.20 at about room temperature and comprises a medicament; a thickening agent; and a solvent, and optionally a skin penetration enhancer and/or a deodorant.
Method for Operating a Benefit Agent Delivery System Comprising Microcells Having an Electrically Eroding Sealing Layer
A benefit agent delivery system whereby benefit agents can be delivered on demand and/or a variety of different benefit agents at different concentrations can be delivered from the same system. The benefit agent delivery system includes a microcell layer comprising a plurality of microcells, wherein the microcells are filled with a carrier and a benefit agent. The microcells include an opening, wherein the opening is spanned by a sealing layer comprising a polymer and metallic material. Application of an electric field across the microcell layer and the sealing layer results in the migration of the metallic material from the sealing layer and the creation of a porous sealing layer, allowing the benefit agent to be released from the benefit agent delivery system.
PREVENTION OF THE WRINKLING AND EXPRESSION OF HUMAN SKIN
In some aspects, the present disclosure relates to methods for treating, preventing, minimizing, and/or diminishing signs of aging in the skin, such as facial wrinkles, and for training a user's face to favor some configurations or expressions over others. A gel or other viscous liquid with specific properties may be applied to areas on the face or body, that may change state to a thin, adhesive semi-elastic transparent film that is left on human skin over a period of time. The properties of the gel and the method for its application on the skin are carefully configured to for instance optimize the sensation (or force) feedback to the user in response to the user's conscious and sub-conscious micro-muscle movements, to discourage use of specific facial muscle groups, reduce or prevent wrinkles, and/or achieve a different repertoire of facial expressions, or for other self-improvement reasons.
Surgical Skin Preparation Device with Timed Indicator
Provided herein is a surgical skin preparation device for applying an antiseptic composition to skin of a patient, including an applicator configured to absorb the antiseptic composition, the applicator having a top surface and a bottom surface, the bottom surface configured to apply the antiseptic composition to the skin of the patient and an indicator including a first layer of a first material configured to wick the antiseptic composition, the first material being opaque in a first state and transparent or translucent in a second state and a second layer of a non-wettable material, the second layer having at least one indicia that is visible to a user when the first layer is in the second state.
DEVICES FOR APPLYING A TOPICAL TREATMENT
A device comprising a housing having a handle end and a treatment end. The treatment end is configured to provide an antimicrobial treatment and a heat treatment. The treatment end comprises an applicator having an applicator surface for providing at least the heat treatment. The device includes a heat generation unit configured to heat the applicator surface in use, a source of antimicrobial agent, and a control unit operatively connected to at least the heat generation unit for controlling the heat generation unit. The device can be a hand-held device and used to apply topical treatment to a treatment area of a subject.
APPLICATION AID FOR THE TREATMENT OF WOUNDS
The invention relates to a flexible application aid for the treatment of wounds. The application aid can be used in particular for the debridement and/or cleansing of wounds, including the skin surrounding the wound. The application aid according to the invention including a flexible or elastically deformable application wand, facilitates debridement of superficial to deep wounds without the risk of injury to the wound.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR SELECTIVE APPLICATION OF TOPICAL COMPOSITION USING DYNAMIC THRESHOLD VALUES
A device and method for selectively applying a composition a treatment surface (e.g., skin) to impart an aesthetically pleasing appearance to the surface. The device may include a detector for obtaining image data corresponding to an image of an area of skin. The device may also include an applicator for selectively applying a fixed amount of the composition to the skin to a location within the area of skin as determined by the device. The fixed amount is selected to reduce the artifact magnitude by a predetermined coverage level when applied to the skin. The device may include a processing arrangement for receiving image data from the detector, determining an artifact magnitude of the location based on the image data, comparing the artifact magnitude to a threshold, and directing the applicator to apply the composition to the skin when the artifact magnitude is above the threshold.
PHOTODYNAMIC COMPOUNDS AND METHODS FOR ACTIVATING THEM USING IONIZING RADIATION AND/OR OTHER ELECTROMAGNETIC RADIATION FOR THERAPY AND/OR DIAGNOSTICS
A method for destroying cells and/or microorganisms in an organism includes the following steps: (a) administering to the organism a composition including a photodynamic compound containing at least one transition metal; and (b) irradiating the photodynamic compound in the organism with electromagnetic radiation, wherein the electromagnetic radiation includes ionizing radiation and is effective to activate the photodynamic compound to destroy at least one of the cells and the microorganisms in the organism. The ionizing radiation is preferably X-rays and/or gamma rays. The non-ionizing radiation is preferably light in the range from 600-950 nm.
