SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SPRAY TAN CUSTOMIZATION USING MULTIPART TANNING SOLUTION

A system and method for customizing the solution used in the sunless spray tanning process are provided. In at least one form, the solution is volumetrically mixed at the point of use, allowing for greater customization and a more consistent tanning result. Providing improved customization at the point of use is accomplished, in at least one form, by using a two-part tanning solution: one part being a high concentration DHA solution and another part being an activator solution. The two parts are mixed with one another at the point of use based on user preferences at the time of the tanning session to provide a specific final DHA concentration for a customized tanning result.

The topical applicator can also include a one-way ratcheting feature to prevent reverse movement (repel) of the metered dosing system. Metered doses can be dispensed through holes in the applicator cap by rotating a knob, which has detent positions that correspond to discrete doses, and which provides audible and tactile feedback.

The system can determine and monitor flow of fluid in the system by utilizing one or more of the following: monitoring the speed of a pump motor, monitoring flow of fluid in a portion of a fluid flow path by using a calibrated fluid flow restrictor, and monitoring one or more characteristics of the pressure pulses. The system can provide external connectivity for accomplishing various activities, such as location tracking of the system, compliance monitoring, tracking of operational data, remote selection and adjustment of therapy settings, etc.
