NASAL MASK SYSTEM
A mask system includes a cushion for a mask that seals at its upper extent in a region of the nose that is generally above the tip of the nose or pronasale, and extends across a portion of the cartilaginous framework, alar or flares of the patient's nose, e.g., not extending over or across the nasal bone of the patient's nose.
LIGHTING FOR ROOT GROWTH
A biological lighting system to provide temporally- and spatially-modulated photon flux output and spectral power distributions to plants on a circadian and circannual basis, or circadian and life cycle basis, to maximize effective and efficient growth in a horticultural setting. The photon flux or irradiance output and the spectral power distribution are modulated to match circadian and circannual rhythms, with individual or multiple luminaires controlled through one or more controllers. Different lighting spectra can be employed depending on the direction of illumination. The photon flux or irradiance output and the spectral power distribution may be set as best suited for any particular plant species, and the system is also useful for raising animals.
Inhaler
An inhaler, particularly for a horse, having a reservoir for dispensing a medicament preparation held under excess pressure, with a discharge nozzle for forming an aerosol of the medicament preparation and with a chamber for holding and temporarily storing the aerosol, which is located on the outlet side, a respiratory orifice adapter for a respiratory orifice, particularly a nostril, while according to a first aspect the reservoir is secured in position, at least in the axial direction, according to a second aspect the discharge nozzle has a direction of discharge which is inclined by more than 5° and less than 50° relative to a central axis of the reservoir or a direction of actuation for dispensing the aerosol, and according to a third aspect, the reservoir has a dispensing valve which is arranged at the top in the position of use of the inhaler.
Integrated Fluid Administration System
Method and device to inject fluid into animals through a sterile needle, requiring control of fluid volume, flow rate of injection, accuracy of injection site, depth of penetration, disposal administration of consumable materials and quality control of the fluid and fluid administration using a portable applicator controlled by an external software controlled pump and controller system used in administering fluid medications, organic castration compounds and other fluids to be administered to live animals.
ANTIMICROBIAL COMPOSITIONS AND USES THEREOF
In some aspects, provided herein are antimicrobial compositions comprising partially esterified polygalacturonic acid and certain fatty acids (e.g., caprylic acid). In some embodiments, the antimicrobial composition may be administered (e.g., topically or orally) to a subject, such as a human patient to treat an infection (e.g., an infection comprising a biofilm). In some aspects, improved catheters are provided.

Virtual kidney donation
A system includes a dialyzer having a blood side and a dialysate side, a first extracorporeal circuit including one or more first fluid connectors structurally configured to connect the blood side of the dialyzer to the vascular system of a kidney patient, and a second extracorporeal circuit including one or more second fluid connectors structurally configured to connect the dialysate side of the dialyzer to the vascular system of a healthy animal. The present teachings may thus include a system where hemodialysis is performed using a healthy animal (e.g., a person with normal kidney function) to help remove harmful solutes from, and provide helpful solutes to, a kidney patient. In this manner, the healthy animal is “virtually donating” its kidney function to the kidney patient.
Intranasal delivery of olanzapine by precision olfactory device
Methods are provided for acute treatment of agitation, including agitation in patients with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, comprising administering to a subject with agitation an effective dose of a dry pharmaceutical composition comprising olanzapine, wherein the dose is administered by an intranasal delivery device that provides, following intranasal administration, (a) a mean peak plasma olanzapine concentration (C.sub.max) of at least 30 ng/mL, with (b) a mean time to C.sub.max (T.sub.max) of olanzapine of less than 0.5 hours. Dry pharmaceutical compositions and devices suitable for intranasal delivery of olanzapine are provided.
Foam applicator for in-ear use
A device for dispensing a foam medication into a human or animal ear includes a supply of foamable medicine held within a container. The medicine is advanced through a delivery tube that is configured to engage an ear without entering the ear canal to an extent that it contacts the eardrum. The delivery tube has an enlarged end portion that prevents the device from being inserted too far into an ear, and the enlarged end portion has a series of openings oriented in two different directions to deliver foam into the ear forward of the device and around the circumference of the delivery tube.
Apparatus and method for convertible volume and pressure-controlled lung-protective ventilation
A system for actuating a volume and/or pressure-controlled manual ventilator including a manual ventilator, a storage case, and an actuating mechanism. The manual ventilator includes a compressible body, an output one-way valve at an output end, and an input one-way valve at an input end. The storage case includes an inner housing surface configured to accommodate the manual ventilator. The actuating mechanism includes a power unit mechanically coupled to a linear rod mechanism and one or more applicator pads mechanically coupled to the linear rod mechanism and proximal to the compressible body. The linear rod mechanism is configured to convert a rotating motion of the power unit into an axial movement of the linear rod mechanism. The actuating mechanism is configured to apply pressure to the compressible body of the manual ventilator via the one or more applicator pads such that a volume of the compressible body is deflated.
