A vaccination device can be used to vaccinate day-old chicks. To vaccinate the day-old chicks safely while ensuring vaccination efficacy, the vaccination device can include a vaccination needle configured to extend from the vaccination device at a vaccination delivery location and an action plate. The action plate can be coupled to the vaccination device such that the action plate is positioned next to the vaccination delivery location. The action plate can include an action button, wherein the action button is configured to receive a day-old chick presented to the action plate in a predetermined loading position, receive a press of the action button, and in response to pressing the action button, cause the vaccination needle to extend from the vaccination device at the vaccination delivery location to deliver a subcutaneous injection to the day-old chick.

The embodiments use an innovative approach with the goal of permanent eradication of the virus. Instead of using drugs that block different stages of the virus life cycle (which have failed to induce a permanent cure), or approaches attempting to track infected cells, the embodiments use small virucidal molecules that are known to destroy the virus in vitro and that can easily penetrate all human cells, including memory cells or other reservoir cells. The problem with the use of small molecules is their toxicity to humans or animals when administered in doses sufficient to achieve intracellular concentrations high enough to destroy the virus in all forms. The embodiments overcome these toxicities (especially the comatose state) by using a 24-hour treatment with general anesthesia, endotracheal intubation with hemodynamic support, and controlled monitored ventilation; also, a combination of these molecules are used which decreases toxicity but has additive virucidal effects.

SUSTAINED RELEASE FORMULATIONS IN DELIVERY DEVICES

The present invention relates to an intra-ruminal device comprising a body substantially impervious to rumen fluid, the body comprising a barrel, at least one outlet, at least one matrix comprising at least one active ingredient and at least one clay mineral, a compression arrangement and at least one variable geometry device dependent from the body, use of the intra-ruminal device and a method of treating a ruminant animal by administering the intra-ruminal device to the animal.

Fluid dispenser

Described herein is a dispenser for dispensing fluid that, integrated into one hand piece, comprises a variable volume chamber with a plunger disposed within the chamber and a chamber inlet and outlet. The inlet and outlet communicate directly with a common chamber volume and the plunger translates in a linear direction relative to the chamber along a common longitudinal axis to expel fluid from the chamber (expel stroke) and/or draw fluid into the chamber (drawing stroke). The plunger is linked to a controller, a power source and a motor that drives translation movement of the plunger. The dispenser described herein offers a variety of advantages over the art including accurate dosing without the user having to manually regulate the dose amount—the amount to be dosed is related to the volume of fluid in the chamber which can be pre-set or varied automatically using sensors and controllers.

TAG BASED ADMINISTRATION OF PHARMACEUTICAL AGENTS TO LIVESTOCK
20220047367 · 2022-02-17 ·

Autonomously administering a pharmaceutical agent to an animal. A tag assembly is affixed to an animal. The tag assembly may be an ear tag, although other configurations can be used. The tag assembly has a reservoir that houses a pharmaceutical agent. An actuator and an application mechanism are provided. A control signal is generated responsive to an input, which may be from a sensor associated with the tag assembly or may be from an external circuit located apart from the tag assembly. Receipt of the control signal causes the actuator to apply a force to the reservoir, which in turn induces a flow of the pharmaceutical agent, via the application mechanism, to a body of the animal. The pharmaceutical agent may be topically or intravenously applied. The pharmaceutical may be an insecticide or some other agent. Multiple reservoirs can be provided to dispense the same or different pharmaceutical agents.
