USE OF HYDROPEROXY ALCOHOLS AND THE DERIVATIVES THEREOF AS ANTIMICROBIAL AGENTS
The invention relates to the use of a hydroperoxy alcohol-type compound, or a 1,2,4-trioxane compound thereof, as an antimicrobial agent, making it possible for it to be used in various applications and in particular as a preservative and/or to improve the antimicrobial properties of at least one preservative, to modulate the skin microbiota, in the treatment or prevention of diseases affecting the skin, the mucous membrane and/or skin appendages or even to cleanse, sanitise, disinfect and/or sterilise a surface other than the skin, skin appendages and mucous membranes, in particular a hard surface or a textile. It also relates to a composition comprising such a compound. In addition to its antimicrobial properties, the aforementioned compound has good safety and emollient properties, making it particularly suitable for cosmetic use.
COMPOSITION FOR HAIR IMPROVEMENT
A compound may improve and/or ameliorate hair volume or quality, and such compounds may be contained in a composition. Specifically, a composition may contain pioglitazone for use in improving hair volume or quality. Such compositions may be configured for use in improving hair volume or quality, and increasing anagen-stage hairs. Such compositions may be as oral administration compositions or topical skin administration compositions. Such compositions may be configured for use in inducing a juvenile adipocyte, or inducing histogenesis of a skin accompanying induction of a juvenile adipocyte. The juvenile adipocyte may include a CD34-positive and PPARy-positive adipocyte.
Anti-dandruff sugars
The invention relates to the cosmetic use of at least one compounds according to the following formula (I), as an anti-dandruff agent or for preventing and/or treating scalp dandruff: where “sugar” denotes a monosaccharide residue chosen from rhamnose, xylose, fucose, mannose, lyxose, and arabinose; where R, substituting the anomeric oxygen in the sugar (represented by “O” in formula (I)), denotes a radical comprising 6 to 38 carbon atoms chosen from: —a linear or branched, saturated alkyl radical; —a linear or branched, alkenyl radical; said linear or branched saturated alkyl radical being optionally substituted by at least one OH and/or NH2 function; —if “sugar” denotes a mannose residue, R denotes a linear C6-C38 alkyl radical, substituted by at least one OH function or an NH2 function; and the salts and solvates and/or optical isomers thereof, alone or in a mixture, particularly racemic forms. The invention also relates to compounds according to formula (I), and cosmetic compositions containing same. ##STR00001##
Cyclohexanols and their use in perfume compositions
The present invention is directed to novel fragrance compounds and their unexpected advantageous use in improving, enhancing or modifying a fragrance formulation through the addition of an olfactory acceptable amount of the compounds, wherein the compounds are represented by the following formula: ##STR00001## an isomer or a mixture of isomers thereof, wherein one of R and R′ represents hydrogen with the other representing a C.sub.1-C.sub.6 linear, branched, or cyclic alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl or aromatic group; and one of the dashed lines represents a carbon-carbon single bond with the other representing a carbon-carbon double bond.
