During a verification check, an image capture device captures an image of the wearer with the PPE. Visual features of the fit test image are compared with visual features of the verification image to determine whether the fit of the PPE on the wearer is correct. Differences between the visual features are alerted to the user, such as for correction, adjustment, or retest.

An amount of gas in the chamber increases during the simulated inhalation and decreases during the simulated exhalation. The method of using the test apparatus comprises the steps of causing the simulated inhalation and the simulated exhalation to determine whether the respirator meets at least one predefined requirement.

The memory includes instructions that when executed by the processors simulate a fitting of a PPE to a worker by capturing at least a first image of the worker; selecting a digital model of the PPE; determining an alignment of the digital model of the PPE to the first image of the worker; and outputting for display augmented reality content comprising a composite of a least a second image of the worker overlaid with the digital model of the PPE in accordance with the determined alignment.
