SENSOR FOR MONITORING AMBIENT CHARACTERISTICS
20180270547 · 2018-09-20 ·

A sensor device for monitoring at least one lifecycle of potatoes, at least from planting seed potatoes to stocking the potatoes includes a body dimensioned and shaped to conform to a potato. The body houses electronics of the sensor device and includes a waterproof layer for protecting the electronics when the sensor device is placed underground with the seed potatoes. The electronics includes a wireless communication circuitry providing the sensor device with radio communication capability, at least one processor, and at least one of the following sensors: a humidity sensor; a temperature sensor; and a carbon dioxide sensor. The at least one processor is configured to store measurement data provided by the at least one sensor, and to cause the wireless communication circuitry to transmit the measurement data to another device.

Systems and methods for inhibiting spoilage of stored crops

CLAMPING APPARATUS
20180235153 · 2018-08-23 ·

A clamping apparatus for clamping a sheet to a supporting structure of an agricultural storage apparatus. The clamping apparatus includes a first clamping section and at least one second clamping section and is attached to a wall of the supporting structure. The, or each, second clamping section includes a lever section and a catch section pivotably attached to the lever section. In use, a section of the sheet is clamped between the first clamping section and the catch section of the, or each, second clamping section thereby securing the sheet to the supporting structure.

Method for suppressing greening

[Problem] To provide a method for suppressing greening of potatoes after harvest. [Solution] A method that comprises: a first step for simultaneously irradiating far-red light and light in a wavelength range other than the far-red light range to post-harvest potatoes; and a second step which involves one time period wherein the far-red light alone is irradiated to the potatoes and another time period wherein neither the far-red light nor the light in a wavelength range other than the far-red light range is irradiated thereto.

Grain bin ducting systems

Grain bin ducting systems are disclosed that more evenly disperse air through a grain bin while also preventing moisture from building up on the top and sides of a grain bin, which can lead to undesirable moisture levels for parts of the grain bin or even ruin grain. Airflow resistance may be reduced in a grain bin by having the air travel in a horizontal direction through the grain bin instead of a vertical direction. Normally, the radius of the grain bin is substantially less than the height of the grain bin, so the resistance to airflow is substantially lower than in typical grain bin ducting systems.
