20190299111 · 2019-10-03 ·

A system for affecting motion of an amusement ride vehicle is disclosed. The system includes a channel and a plurality of fluid spray sources positioned to spray at least a primary fluid over the channel. For at least one of the fluid spray sources, the system is adapted to inject a secondary fluid into the primary fluid to modify at least one of a pressure and a velocity of the primary fluid. A corresponding method is also disclosed.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR INCORPORATING PNEUMATIC ROBOTIC SYSTEMS INTO AMUSEMENT PARK ATTRACTIONS

A system may include an inflatable assembly having a plurality of members. The system may also include a plurality of sensors disposed at a plurality of positions inside or around the inflatable assembly, such that the plurality of sensors may acquire data related to a shape of the inflatable assembly. The system also includes one or more valves, each configured to direct a fluid into a corresponding member of the plurality of members of the inflatable assembly. The system also includes a processor that adjusts positions of the one or more valves to cause the fluid to be directed into the corresponding member of the plurality of members of the inflatable assembly based on the data and a desired shape of the inflatable assembly.

BOAT CAPTURE AND LAUNCH SYSTEM FOR WATER RIDES
20190262728 · 2019-08-29 ·

A water ride adapted for stopping and launching boats. The ride includes a flume containing flowing water and first and second sidewalls define the flume. The ride includes a boat in the flume with an interaction member extending outward from its hull. The ride includes a boat capture and launch assembly provided on the second wall, and this assembly includes: (a) a body; (b) a drive mechanism rotating the body; (c) a capture arm with a first contact surface on the body; and (d) a launch arm with a second contact surface on the body. When the body is rotated into a first position, the capture arm extends outward into the flume to catch the interaction member and stop the boat. When the body is rotated through a range of second positions, the interaction member abuts the second contact surface and a launch force is applied to accelerate the boat.

Guided boat with external discrete yaw control
11986743 · 2024-05-21 · ·

A water ride system configured to provide passengers of boats new and exciting experiences via enhanced storytelling opportunities. The water ride system is designed to allow ride designers to provide 2-dimensional guiding of the boat traveling in a flume in a direction of travel (DOT) coinciding with the direction of water flowing in the flume. The water ride system uses a combination of a guideway (or track) within the flume and a new guide bogie. The guide bogie has a square body and four corner-mounted guide wheels, and the bogie is mounted on the bottom of the boat so as to ride within the guideway to provide guided boats with various headings. Specifically, the boats can be oriented in many different directions rather than having a single fixed orientation, such as with a front of the boat facing in the DOT, as was the case with traditional water rides.

The invention relates to a white-water river, comprising a river bed capable of guiding a current of water between an upper inlet of the bed and a lower outlet of the bed, and including water-feeding means for injecting a stream of water at the upper inlet of the bed. The river bed is made up of a series of individual bed modules, adjacent to one another, and assembled via respective transverse contact surfaces. The individual bed modules are supported via a lower surface by a modular lattice bearing structure.
