PROCESSES AND APPARATUSES FOR OPERATING A GAS COMPRESSOR
Processes and apparatuses for operating a centrifugal gas compressor. A storage tank containing a liquid buffer material is provided and used to offset density fluctuations in the gas stream passed to the compressor. The storage tank may contain a component of the high-pressure gas stream provided by the compressor, such as carbon dioxide.
Efficient Method for Producing and Purifying Anhydrous Sugar Alcohol
The present invention relates to a method of producing and purifying a high-purity anhydrosugar alcohol in high yield by a simple process and apparatus, the method includes the steps of: allowing a sugar alcohol to react in the presence of an acid catalyst in a reactor, and, at the same time, evaporating a product of the reaction; cooling the evaporated product to remove water and obtain a crude anhydrosugar alcohol; and introducing the crude anhydrosugar alcohol into a melt crystallization process to obtain a high-purity anhydrosugar alcohol.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING ACETIC ACID
A method produces acetic acid and includes a reaction step, a first purification step, a second purification step, and a third purification step. In the reaction step, a material mixture including methanol, carbon monoxide, a catalyst, and an iodide is subjected to a methanol carbonylation reaction in a reactor (1) to form acetic acid. In the first purification step, a crude acetic acid stream including acetic acid formed in the reaction step is subjected to distillation in a distillation column (3) to give a first acetic acid stream enriched with acetic acid. In the second purification step, the first acetic acid stream is subjected to distillation in a distillation column (5) to give a second acetic acid stream further enriched with acetic acid. In the third purification step, an acetic acid stream is subjected to purification in an additional purification unit (e.g., a distillation column (6)) while controlling the corrosive iodine concentration in the acetic acid stream passing through the unit to 100 ppm or less, to give a third acetic acid stream still further enriched with acetic acid. The method for producing acetic acid is suitable for restraining corrosion of the acetic acid production equipment.
Solar desalination system employing a humidification-dehumidification process
A hydro-thermal exchange unit (HTEU) for desalinating feed water in accordance with a humidification-dehumidification includes feed water, fresh water and gas conduit circuits for transporting feed water, fresh water, and gas, respectively. The unit also includes an evaporator through which a portion of the feed water conduit and the gas conduit pass. The evaporator causes evaporation of a portion of the feed water to produce vapor that is transported through the gas conduit. The unit also includes a condenser through which a portion of the gas conduit and the fresh water conduit pass. The condenser has input and output ports for coupling the gas and fresh water conduit circuits. The condenser extracts moisture from the vapor transported therethrough by the gas conduit. The extracted moisture is discharged through the fresh water conduit. The unit also includes a heat exchanger through which a portion of the fresh water conduit and the feed water conduit pass to thereby extract residual heat from the fresh water such that the residual heat heats the feed water.
Fluid distribution device
The invention concerns a fluid distribution device (1) comprising: at least one inlet tube (2) comprising openings (7) and having a first and a second end (3, 4); a cap (5) comprising a principal body (6) with a lenticular shape and with a circular section elongated by a skirt (8) extending in the direction of the second end (4) towards the first end (3) of the inlet tube (2), said cap (5) having an outer surface and an inner surface, the cap being integral with the second end (4) of the tube via the inner surface and the principal body (6) being provided with a plurality of holes (10);
and in which the cap (5) comprises at least one deflection means (14) disposed on its outer surface and configured to direct or maintain the gas towards or at the periphery of said cap (5).
SOLVENT RECYCLE FROM HEAVIES REMOVAL COLUMN
A process is presented for the recovery of solvent used in an alkylation process. The solvent removes heavy hydrocarbons from a C4 stream. The C4 stream is passed to an alkylation unit to generate an alkylate product. A portion of the solvent is carried over with the C4 stream and needs to be recovered to reduce the aromatics content in the C4 stream, to reduce any deleterious effects of the aromatics in downstream processing.

Method for purification of alcohols
This invention is directed to methods for recovery of C3-C6 alcohols. The recovery process advantageously utilizes the immiscible properties of a first phase liquid and a second phase liquid to separate the liquids prior to processing C3-C6 alcohols to recovery. The invention is also directed to C3-C6 alcohol-containing compositions.
Automated method and system for recovering protein powder meal, pure omega 3 oil and purified distilled water from animal tissue
The present invention describes a method and an automatic system for recovering protein powder meal, crude and pure omega-3 oil and purified distilled water from a mixture of animal tissue processed in a filter-drier-reaction tank. Animal tissue, for example fish, and organic solvent are directly or indirectly fed into the filter-drier-reaction tank. The filter-drier-reaction tank mixes, heats, and separates solid and heavy liquid portions of the mixture, the organic solvents are automatically recycled back in to the system after distillation. The solid portion is retained in the filter-drier-reaction tank and baked. Solid protein powder product (the protein powder meal) is thus recovered.
METHOD FOR EXTRACTING ODOUR FROM PLANT MATERIAL IN SOLID FORM
The invention relates to the field of natural scents and fragrances. More particularly, the invention relates to a process for extracting scents from a plant material and to the provision thereof in solid form. This process combines steps of extraction, gas dissolution, cryogenicization, or even freeze-drying. The scent thus captured in the form of a deep-frozen matrix or of dehydrated powder can be used as a natural perfuming ingredient, in particular in cosmetics. The invention relates very particularly to the obtaining of perfuming extracts derived from mute flowers.
