An apparatus for creating a segregated volume of air, the apparatus including a plurality of ultrasound emitters configured to provide interfering ultrasound outputs at a location remote from the ultrasound emitters. The interfering ultrasound outputs are configured to create a region of modified air pressure of predetermined size, shape and distance from the ultrasound emitters which acts as an air-pressure barrier capable of: affecting transmission of sound across the air-pressure barrier; and/or affecting movement of air, an airborne object, airborne particles or molecules, or an object responsive to movement by air, across the air-pressure barrier; and creating, at a first boundary of the air-pressure barrier, a first volume of air and, at a second boundary of the air-pressure barrier, a second volume of air at least partially segregated from the first volume of air.

Elimination of polymer fouling in fluidized bed gas-phase fines recovery eductors

An eductor, a process and apparatus for gas phase polymerization of olefins in a polymerization reactor are disclosed. The process and apparatus employ an eductor which has an inlet which makes a bend of less than about 90 toward the outlet after entering the mixing chamber of the eductor.

Methods of decontaminating bone tissue and an apparatus or system for the same are provided. The methods can be multi-batch processes and include contacting the bone tissue having contaminants with carbon dioxide to decontaminate the bone tissue and to form carbon dioxide having contaminants. The contaminated carbon dioxide is collected and the contaminants are removed to obtain purified carbon dioxide which can be recycled to treat contaminated bone tissue. The contaminated carbon dioxide can be purified by bubbling it through water and/or an organic solvent followed by acid treatment, filtering and liquefying the carbon dioxide. Contaminants that can be removed from contaminated bone tissue, and in turn, from contaminated carbon dioxide include infectious organisms, bacteria, viruses, protozoa, parasites, fungi and mold or a mixture thereof.

PYROLYSIS SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF GENERATING HYDROGEN GAS FROM A HYDROCARBON GAS

Pyrolysis systems and methods of generating hydrogen gas from a hydrocarbon gas. The pyrolysis systems include a solar thermal reactor configured to heat a gaseous hydrocarbon stream, such as methane, to its dissociation temperature. A supersonic turbomachine disposed in a housing receives resulting carbon particles and hydrogen gas from the solar thermal reactor and prevents dissociated carbon from forming deposits on an interior wall of the housing. A particulate separator is located downstream of the supersonic turbomachine to separate the carbon particles from the remaining hydrogen gas.
