Method to strip and recoat erosion coatings applied to fan blades and structural guide vanes
A method of repairing an erosion coating coupled to a substrate, wherein the coating comprises an anodization layer on the substrate, a bond primer layer on the anodization layer, a corrosion-resistant primer on the bond primer, and an erosion coating on the corrosion-resistant primer. The method comprises abrading an erosion coating; abrading a corrosion-resistant primer; creating an abraded surface comprising a bond primer over an anodization layer coupled to the substrate, applying a sol-gel adhesion promoter layer to said abraded surface; applying a corrosion-resistant layer over the sol-gel adhesion promoter layer; and applying an erosion coating layer over the corrosion-resistant layer.
Coating method and coating device
The present application discloses a coating method including: detecting a shape of an object over a coating zone which extends from a start point position to an end point position to generate first detection data before application of coating agent to the object; moving a bracket for holding a nozzle for discharging the coating agent with bringing the bracket into contact with the object to apply the coating agent to the object over the coating zone; detecting a shape of the object after application of the coating agent over the coating zone, to generate second detection data; extracting first extraction data and second extraction data in correspondence to detection positions intermittently set in the coating zone from the first detection data and the second detection data; and comparing the first extraction data with the second extraction data to detect a coating state of the coating agent.

Composition for substrate surface modification and method using the same
The present invention provides a composition for substrate surface modification and a method using the same, and the composition for substrate surface modification is composed of a compound of the general formula structure shown in formula 1: ##STR00001## formula 1, wherein n.sub.1 is an integer of 1 to 6, and R is a zwitterionic group. The composition for substrate surface modification uses water as a medium to perform modifying reaction over a substrate surface, and at the same time has biological modification characteristics, and abilities of immobilizing biomolecules and anti-biofouling.
Nanowires with magnetic coatings and methods for making and using
Coated nanowires comprising a core and a ferromagnetic coating are magnetically aligned and bound to a substrate. The substrate may have a thiol-functionalized surface. In some examples, the coated nanowires are nickel-coated copper nanowires and the substrate may be a carbon-doped oxide or silicon oxide.
WEATHER-RESISTANT, FUNGAL-RESISTANT, AND STAIN-RESISTANT COATINGS AND METHODS OF APPLYING ON WOOD, MASONRY, OR OTHER POROUS MATERIALS
A process for manufacturing the composition coating may include selecting a wood or masonry material substrate and utilizing a sol-gel comprising a silane or silane derivative and metal oxide precursor to coat the substrate. The process may utilize an all solution process or controlled environment for manufacturing a composition coating that prevent wetting and/or staining of a substrate. The composition coatings for treating wood or masonry materials improves weather-resistance, microbial resistance, stain-resistance and fungal-resistance of the materials. The reduced permeability of the resulting masonry materials can also delay or inhibit degradation caused by permeation of ions such as chlorides and sulfates. In addition, a stain comprising the composite solution and pigments may impart additional property to wood or masonry materials whilst retaining or improving the original appearance, particularly for the visibility and contrast of the wood grain as seen after the application of the coating.
AQUEOUS COATING COMPOSITION AND PROCESS OF MAKING THE SAME
An aqueous coating composition capable of providing coating films with balanced properties of low gloss and high clarity.
Techniques to improve polyurethane membranes for implantable glucose sensors
The invention provides an implantable membrane for regulating the transport of analytes therethrough that includes a matrix including a first polymer; and a second polymer dispersed throughout the matrix, wherein the second polymer forms a network of microdomains which when hydrated are not observable using photomicroscopy at 400× magnification or less. In one aspect, the homogeneous membrane of the present invention has hydrophilic domains dispersed substantially throughout a hydrophobic matrix to provide an optimum balance between oxygen and glucose transport to an electrochemical glucose sensor.
