In a method of forming a multilayer coating film comprising: a low-brightness intercoating film; a first base coating film; a second base coating film formed on an object to be coated; and a clear coating film formed on the second base coating film; the first base coating film is obtained by applying a first aqueous base coating material, the second base coating film is obtained by applying a second aqueous base coating material containing a brightness pigment, the clear coating film, with specific compositions and properties, is formed on a low-brightness intercoating film by a wet-on-wet method and the multilayer coating film is heat cured to form a cured multilayer coating film.

Acrylic Polyester Resin and An Aqueous Coating Composition Containing the Same

There is described an acrylic polyester resin, obtainable by grafting an acrylic polymer with a polyester material. The polyester material is obtainable by polymerizing (i) a polyacid component, with (ii) a polyol component, including—2,2,4,4-tetraallcylcyclobutane-1,3-diol. One of the polyacid component or the polyol component comprises a functional monomer operable to impart functionality on to the polyester resin, such that an acrylic polymer may be grafted with the polyester material via the use of said functionality. Also provided is an aqueous coating composition comprising the acrylic polyester resin and a metal packaging containing coated with the composition.

The method comprises: supplying the face with a release coating arranged on a first side, providing positionally alternating continuous adhesive stripes on a second side wherein predetermined properties of the positionally alternating continuous adhesive stripes are selected so that number of stripes in each single customer roll is one or more, width of each stripe is smaller than width of single customer roll, and positional frequency is selected so that one oscillation cycle covers 0.1-10 peripherical lengths in a machine roll, and 1-100 peripherical lengths in a customer roll defined as peripheries of full rolls. Also described is the use of polyvinylpyrrolidone as a defoamer for aqueous dispersion adhesive compositions applied to a film substrate using a coating machine having a rapidly rotating roller.

AQUEOUS, LOW SOLIDS BASECOAT COMPOSITIONS

Disclosed herein is an aqueous, one-pack coating composition including a polymer, a crosslinking agent, a polymeric surface-active agent, and an organic rheology control agent. The total solids content of the coating composition is from 7.5-11.5 wt.-%; the viscosity at 23° C. is from 2000-12000 mPas at a shear rate of 0.1 s-1¬; the amount of the polymeric surface-active agent is from 0.5-25 wt.-% based on the total solids content of the coating composition; the amount of the organic rheology control agent is from 5-12 wt.-% based on the total solids content of the coating composition; and the coating composition does not contain platelet-shaped particulate material having a median particle size of 2 μm or more. Further disclosed herein are methods of producing a coating and applying the coating with a device producing a coating composition jet, and substrates coated by the methods.
