METHOD OF SHAPE SORTING CRUSHED ABRASIVE PARTICLES
A method of shape sorting abrasive particles involves disposing initial crushed abrasive particles with agitation against the surface of a tool, the surface defining a plurality of shaped cavities having an average aspect ratio of at least 1.2, thereby causing a first portion of the initial crushed abrasive particles to become retained within at least some of the shaped cavities, and causing a second portion of the initial crushed abrasive particles to remain as loose particles on the surface. Substantially all of the shaped cavities contain at most one abrasive particle. The second portion of the initial crushed abrasive particles is separated from the tool. The first portion of the initial crushed abrasive particles is then separated from the tool and isolated as loose sorted crushed abrasive particles. The average aspect ratio of the loose sorted crushed abrasive particles is greater than that of the initial crushed abrasive particles.
Process for producing an aggregate
An aggregate processing assembly is provided. The processing assembly includes a separator assembly having a central member extending from a first end to a second end, the central member supporting at least one helical flight provided between the first and second ends, the helical flight having a width provided between a proximal end and a distal end. An assembly housing is provided around a portion of the separator assembly, the assembly housing includes a collection portion for receiving processed feed stock which exits the separator assembly radially away from the central member outward past the distal end, and the collection portion includes a first outlet. A second outlet is coupled to the separator assembly for receiving processed feed stock which exits the separator assembly at the second end of the at least one helical flight. A proppant, an aggregate, a system for processing feed stock to produce a proppant or aggregate, and a method of producing a proppant or aggregate is also provided.
Removing airbag modules from automotive scrap
A system classifies materials utilizing a vision system that implements an artificial intelligence system in order to identify or classify and then remove automotive airbag modules from a scrap stream, which may have been produced from a shredding of end-of-life vehicles. The sorting process may be designed so that live airbag modules are not activated, which may cause damage to equipment or persons.
Classification and sorting with single-board computers
A material handling system sorts materials utilizing a vision system of multiple vision devices configured with single board computers that each implement an artificial intelligence system in order to identify or classify materials, which are then sorted into separate groups based on such an identification or classification by sorting devices that are each coupled to one of the vision devices.
High speed substrate sorter
Disclosed herein are a substrate sorter, an inspection and sorting system having the substrate sorter, and a method for the inspection and sorting system. The substrate sorter includes an annular gripper comprising a rotator and a plurality of vacuum applicators concyclically disposed around an axis, a carrier operable to move a substrate towards the rotator and into a loading region below the rotator, and an actuator coupled with the annular gripper and operable to rotate the rotator about the axis relative to the plurality of vacuum applicators while one or more of the plurality of vacuum applicators hold the substrate against the rotator.
Single-stream sorting systems and methods
Various arrangements involving a single-stream sorting system are presented, such as for use in sorting a single stream of recyclable materials. The single-stream sorting system may include a platform for an operator to stand on. The single-stream sorting system may include a circular conveyor that rotates in either a clockwise or counterclockwise direction to move the stream of items around the platform. The single-stream sorting system may include a plurality of item collector chutes arranged in a circular pattern around an outer circumference of the circular conveyor. The stream of items deposited on the conveyor is rotated around the circular platform and proximate to each item collector chute of the plurality of item collector chutes to allow items from the stream of items to be moved from the circular conveyor into the plurality of item collector chutes.
