Item sorting with delivery point compression
Systems and methods for sorting items for delivery to delivery points, using delivery point compression. Items can be sorted and sequenced for delivery by a sorting machine having a finite number of sorting destinations. For routes having more delivery points than the number of sorting destinations, delivery point compression allows sorting destination assignments that eliminate delivery points not likely to receive any items. Sorting destination assignments can be performed by a processor of the sorting machine based on expected item information and delivery point item frequency scores.

Sorting system and method
A sorting system includes a control server, multiple sorting robots, and a sorting region. The sorting region is divided into multiple sub-regions. At least one supply station and multiple delivery openings are deployed in each sub-region. Delivery openings respectively correspond to paths. The control server determines, according to path information of an item to be sorted, a target delivery opening corresponding to a path of the item, determines, from the multiple sub-regions of the sorting region, a target sub-region in which the target delivery opening is located, and allocates a delivery task to a target sorting robot among the multiple sorting robots. In response to the delivery task, the target sorting robot acquires the item from the supply station where the item is located, carries the item to the target delivery opening in the target sub-region, and delivers the same.

System and method are provided where parcels or packages are associated or grouped, into logical group or logical containerization of parcels or packages, without need for physical container, such that parcels or packages can be tracked as a group, for example with a unique group ID. Logical group may be tracked within specified logical zone on conveyor, transported, sorted and/or otherwise processed as unique logical group without need to be contained in physical container. System and method for automated sortation can accumulate set number or set volume of packages, and then process the accumulated set number or volume of packages.

An automated mail sorting system configured to position individual pieces of mail in one of a plurality of nested postal totes, including a denesting assembly configured to squeeze an upper portion of a postal tote of a plurality of nested postal totes to ease in separation of the postal tote from the plurality of nested postal totes, a traverse assembly configured to enable lifting of the postal tote from the plurality of nested postal totes and to transport the postal tote along a lateral distance, and a stacker assembly configured to receive the postal tote from the traverse assembly and to transport the postal tote past a feeder assembly for the positioning of individual pieces of mail within the postal tote.

Systems, devices, and methods for enhanced sortation of delivery items
Systems, methods, and devices for designating a location for a delivery item that is being sorted by an operator. The operator scans the delivery address of the item using a scanner having a particular attribute, such as being painted red. Using delivery address along with an identifier for the scanner that was used, the system determines a sort output location for the item, identifies a designator (e.g. a specific color, such as red) that corresponds to the scanner, and identifies an indicator device (e.g., a multicolor LED device) that corresponds to the sort output location. The system then commands the indicator device to present or display the designator. For example, the indicator device may be commanded to illuminate a LED to give off red light. The operator of the red scanner then places the item at the location corresponding to the red light designator.
SYSTEM AND METHOD OF SORTING AND SEQUENCING ITEMS
Embodiments of a system and method for sorting and sequencing articles in a processing facility are disclosed. Delivery endpoints are divided and grouped into stop groups. A first sorter sorts items according to stop group and outputs the items to trays. The output trays from the first sorter are loaded to a second sorter in stop group order. The second sorter can then sort the items into output bins in delivery sequence order.
