PRODUCTION PLANT HAVING A PROTECTIVE UNIT

The invention relates to a production installation (1) for bending sheet metal comprising a bending press (3) with press beams (13, 16), a bending tool (4), a tool manipulation unit (30) for the bending tool (4), and a protective unit (29) with a protective element (32) and an adjusting device (33, 44). The protective element (32) of the protective unit (29) can be moved from a protective position which covers the bending tool (4) into a release position which releases the bending tool (4). The adjusting device (33) comprises at least two brackets (37) and at least two holding arms (38), the protective element (32) being mounted on the brackets (37) in an articulated manner by means of the holding arms (38). The adjusting device (44) can also comprise at least two linear guide arrangements (45) each having a plurality of guide rails (46, 47, 48), by means of which the protective element (32) can be displaced between the two positions.

MACHINE INTEGRATED POSITIONING SYSTEM

A machine integrated positioning system shows an operator where to place a raw part in the press brake or other machinery. Further, the operator is informed if the dimensions associated with the raw part are, or are not, correct to produce the planned finished part. The operator is visually shown how the raw part is to be oriented. The operator is informed if the raw part is right-side-up, along with other pre-final placement information. If these and other conditions are not met, the machine integrated positioning system may prevent the press brake and other machinery from cycling.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DETECTING FAILURE IN A MECHANICAL PRESS
20200047442 · 2020-02-13 ·

An apparatus and a method for detecting a failure in a press for punching semiconductor devices are provided, where the method comprises the steps of locating a semiconductor device between a first die-set part and a second die-set part comprised in the press, and moving the first die-set part and the second die-set part relative to each other for punching the semiconductor device therebetween. The method further comprises the steps of monitoring a parameter with a sensor attached to the first die-set part and/or the second die-set part at different positions of the first die-set part when it is moving relative to the second die set part while punching the semiconductor device, and comparing a present variation of the parameter at different positions of the first die-set part relative to the second die-set part against an expected variation of the parameter at positions of the first die-set part relative to the second die-set part during normal operation of the press when there is no failure while punching the semiconductor device. The method also comprises the step of determining that a failure has occurred in the press when the present variation of the parameter is different from the expected variation of the parameter.

Live pilot sensing apparatus

A live pilot sensing apparatus is presented herein. The apparatus includes a pneumatic cylinder, sensing plate, and at least one stabilizing plate. The cylinder includes a piston and is configured to connect to the die of a stamping system. The sensing plate is configured to connect with the distal end of the piston. The stabilizing plate is configured to connect with an exposed segment along the cylinder piston, between the sensing plate and cylinder. Moreover, the piston is configured to react upon substantial contact between the sensing plate and a portion of a foreign object within the stamping system.

Safety device and method for monitoring a machine

A machine has a first machine part and a second machine part. The first machine part carries out a working movement towards the second machine part in order to machine a workpiece. The first machine part has a leading edge, which defines a movement plane in the course of the working movement. For safeguarding the machine, a plurality of images including spatially resolved representations of the edge, at least a part of the workpiece, and a protective region defined between the edge and the second machine part are acquired. A motion speed of the first machine part relative to the second machine part is determined on the basis of the plurality of images. The motion speed is compared to a reference speed value or speed profile, defining a nominal speed of the first machine part relative to the second machine part during the working movement and an acceptable tolerance interval. The working movement is stopped if the motion speed deviates from the reference speed beyond the tolerance interval.
