Metal sheet molding method
A machining surface of a die are provided with a pair of inclined surfaces facing each other across a gap and a flat surface interposed therebetween. Each inclined surface includes an inner end portion on a side near the flat surface and an outer end portion on a side farther away from the flat surface. The molding method includes a mounting step of mounting the metal sheet on the die to span both inclined surfaces, and a pressing step of forming a reduced-thickness portion by pressing the metal sheet between the punch and the inclined surfaces of the die. The pressing step includes setting a bottom dead center of the punch to maintain a gap formed between the inner end portion and a surface of the metal sheet facing the inner end portion.
Turbocharger and method for assembling turbocharger
Provided is a turbocharger, including: a compressor impeller (impeller) having a through hole; a shaft inserted through the through hole; and a fastening member caulked to a distal end portion of the shaft projecting from the through hole.
TREATMENT PROCESS FOR A CENTRAL BORE THROUGH A CENTRIFUGAL COMPRESSOR WHEEL TO CREATE A DEEP CYLINDRICAL ZONE OF COMPRESSIVE RESIDUAL HOOP STRESS ON A FRACTIONAL PORTION OF THE BORE LENGTH, AND COMPRESSOR WHEEL RESULTING THEREFROM
A process for cold working of the inner surface of a bore in a centrifugal compressor wheel along only a fractional portion of the bore length (i.e., along less than a full axial length of the bore), thereby creating a zone of compressive residual hoop stress in the metal surrounding the bore where the wheel needs the beneficial residual stress. The process purposefully avoids cold working of the bore at locations adjacent to high-stress areas and features of the wheel, where cold working in such locations could negatively impact the wheel's overall life.
Bridged bi-aromatic ligands and olefin polymerization catalysts prepared therefrom
Disclosed are novel bridged bi-aromatic phenol ligands and transition metal catalyst compounds derived therefrom. Also disclosed are methods of making the ligands and transition metal compounds, and polymerization processes utilizing the transition metal compounds for the production of olefin polymers.

Open die forging process for minimizing end losses and a product made using it
The invention discloses a process of manufacturing heavy and critical components such as a blowout preventer (BOP) with a combination of open die forging, piercing and machining process which results in to better material utilization and saving in the machining time. The forging process of the invention involves a step of notching, wherein a transverse notch is made near each end of the ingot before cogging said ingot. The invention allows development of safety and critical components with effective material utilisation.
