IRON-TYPE GOLF CLUB HEAD
An iron-type golf club head comprises a face portion and a hosel portion which are integrally formed by forging or casting soft iron. The face portion has a face hardness hf (HV) which is defined by Vickers hardness at a depth of 4 mm from the hitting surface at a main impact point. The hosel portion has a reference hosel outer peripheral portion defining a hosel hardness hh (HV) which is an average value of Vickers hardness measured at positions around the hosel axis, and at a depth of 1 mm from the outer surface thereof. The hosel hardness hh is higher than the face hardness hf.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING IRON GOLF CLUB HEAD
A method for manufacturing an iron golf club head has acts of providing a head body made of a metallic material, providing at least one weight insert made of a high-specific-gravity metallic material, forming engagement features at either the head body or the weight insert, and assembling and forging. Therefore, different metallic materials are integrally combined by forging to form the golf club head with a precise appearance. The head body and the weight insert are joined without gaps to enhance hitting performance and reduce noises upon striking. Flexibility of gravity center position is increased for achieving preferred requirements of lowing center of gravity and deepening the center of gravity.

IRON TYPE GOLF CLUB HEAD CONSTRUCTION
A method of manufacturing an iron type golf club head, including forming an iron type golf club head blank, the iron type golf club head blank having an oversized hosel portion and an oversized body portion, the iron type golf club head blank configured to accommodate a plurality of iron type golf club heads, each iron type golf club head having a unique loft angle; and removing material from said oversized body portion of said iron type golf club head blank.
Method of Manufacturing Golf Club Head Having Stress-Reducing Features
Methods of manufacturing a golf club head comprising one or more stiffening members proximate the face, and particularly solid rods or a plate with one or more cutouts, is disclosed herein. One method comprises the steps of preparing a wax mold of a golf club head including a plate stiffening member with excess material, casting the golf club head, and machining away the excess material. Another method comprises the steps of casting a golf club body, providing a plate stiffening member, providing a face component such as a face cup, tack welding the plate stiffening member and the face component to the golf club body, and welding these parts together.

MULTI-STAGE FORGING PROCESS
An iron-type golf club head with a cavity formed via a multi-stage forging process. The forged iron-type golf club head is formed from a single billet of material. An intermediate step of the multi-stage forging process creates a cavity in the iron-type golf club head which can receive an insert. The resultant iron-type golf club head has a substantially lower center of gravity and higher moment of inertia when compared to a traditionally forged iron-type golf club head lacking a cavity. Additionally, the resultant iron-type golf club head has a more solid feel than a traditionally cast iron-type golf club head as a result of the tighter grain structure the forging process yields.
