The application of a protective layer on external surfaces of a sand casting mould is done by means of any spraying, immersion or deposition method, whereas material with anti-adhesive properties is used for the protective coating in the form of organic chemosetting, thermosetting, light-curing material or in the form of inorganic material, including metal.

Provided are a method for preparing a microfluidic device, a microfluidic device and a microfluidic system. The method includes: providing a mold having a groove; injecting a liquid metal into the groove of the mold, and solidifying the liquid metal to obtain a solid metal; separating the solid metal from the mold; providing the solid metal with an electrode; providing a cladding layer on a surface of the solid metal provided with the electrode, such that the solid metal is wrapped by the cladding layer, and at least a part of the electrode extends outside the cladding layer, so as to obtain a preform; and fixing the preform in a substrate, melting the solid metal and extending at least a part of the electrode outside the substrate, to obtain the microfluidic device.

Methods of improving a surface finish of a casting pattern for an investment casting process, methods of forming an investment casting, and smoothed casting patterns. The methods for forming the casting patterns having an improved surface finish include sealing the casting pattern with a first coating material to form a sealed casting pattern and smoothing the sealed casting pattern with a second coating material to form a smoothed casting pattern. The methods for forming the investment casting include covering a smoothed casting pattern with a mold material to define an enclosed mold volume, curing the mold material to form a cured mold material, flowing the smoothed casting pattern from the enclosed mold volume to define a void space, filling the void space with a liquid investment casting material, and solidifying the liquid casting material to define an investment casting.

The method may include disposing a lost foam on a cavity of a mold as the cavity being formed in a shape corresponding to a shape of a casting product; injecting a first molten metal through a low-pressure molten metal ingate formed in the mold to form a low-pressure casting portion of the casting product; and injecting a second molten metal through a gravity molten metal ingate formed in the mold to form a gravity casting portion of the casting product.
