The brake disc manufacturing method may include a porous metal block preparation operation for preparing a porous metal block having a plurality of pores therein, and an insert casting operation for mounting the porous metal block in a mold and casting a disc plate material to manufacture a brake disc.

Variable diameter investment casting mold for casting of reticulated metal foams

A method to manufacture reticulated metal foam via a dual investment solid mold, includes pre-investing a precursor with a diluted pre-investment ceramic plaster to encapsulate the precursor; and investing the encapsulated precursor with a ceramic plaster within an mold of a varied cross-section. A varied cross-section mold includes a mold thickness adjacent to an outer periphery of a pattern at a top of the varied cross-section mold is between 200-500% a thickness between the outer periphery of the pattern at a base of the varied cross-section mold. A varied cross-section mold includes a trapezoidal prism shape with a pour cone in a top, the top larger than the base.

CAMSHAFT DEVICE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING CAMSHAFT DEVICE

The present invention relates to a camshaft device, which allows a plurality of components to be assembled to a main shaft, and a method for manufacturing the camshaft device. The camshaft device may include: a main shaft lengthily extending in the lengthwise direction; at least one cam lobe assembled to the main shaft and formed eccentrically from a rotation axis of the main shaft; at least one journal bearing assembled to the main shaft and formed to rotatably support the main shaft; and at least one guide shaft assembled to the main shaft and installed between the cam lobe and another cam lobe so as to align an assembling position of the cam lobe or the journal bearing.

Dual investment technique for solid mold casting of reticulated metal foams

A method to manufacture reticulated metal foam via a dual investment solid mold, includes pre-investment of a precursor with a diluted pre-investment ceramic plaster then investing the encapsulated precursor with a ceramic plaster.

RAILCAR AXLE BOX AND METHOD OF PRODUCING THE SAME

A railcar axle box includes an axle box main body accommodating a bearing supporting an axle. The axle box main body includes: an inner surface defining an accommodating space accommodating the bearing; a first side surface provided at an outer side of the inner surface and at one car width direction side of a car width direction center of the accommodating space; and a second side surface provided at an outer side of the inner surface and at the other car width direction side of the center. A shortest distance between the first side surface and the car width direction center of the accommodating space and a shortest distance between the second side surface and the center are equal to each other in a car width direction.

A wheel for a track assembly is disclosed. The wheel includes an integrally formed body having hub and rim portions and first and second walls. The first and second walls, which connect the rim and hub portions, extend radially therebetween. The hub and rim portions and the first and second walls define an interior chamber configured to hold forming material. The first wall defines an aperture providing a pathway to the interior chamber for the evacuation of the forming material, and the aperture being shaped for evacuating debris introduced into the interior chamber in operation. A track system having the same is also disclosed.

Systems and methods for providing prosthetic components

Methods for forming prosthetic implants, including femoral implants, are discussed. While the methods can include any suitable step, in some cases, they include providing a master negative mold defining an internal space shaped to form a femoral component configured to replace a distal portion of a femur, wherein the femoral component comprises at least one of: an anterior flange that is disposed at an anterior proximal end of the femoral component, and a proximal extension disposed at a proximal portion of a posterior condyle of the femoral component, the proximal extension comprising a concave articulation surface that is configured to articulate against at least one of: a tibial prosthetic component and a tibia; filling the master negative mold with a molding material to form a molded femoral component; and removing at least one of: the anterior flange, and the proximal extension from the molded femoral component to form a modified molded femoral component. Other implementations are described.
