Machine for forming metal bars
A machine for forming metal bars, in particular for producing ingots made of precious metal such as gold, silver, precious alloys, as well as other pure metals or different alloys, in the form of solid metal powder, grits or swarf of various sizes, having an ingot mold and a cover for closing the ingot mold when filled, the ingot mold has a dimension in height such that the cover passes from a first position to a second position when the volume occupied by the mass of metal that fills the ingot mold reduces gradually up to one third of the initial solid volume. In the first position the cover rests on the metal that fills the ingot mold and remains raised with respect to an abutting edge of the ingot mold, in such a manner that the bottom of the cover compresses and thus uniformly compacts the powders, the grits or the swarf so that, during the melting step, in the second position, the cover lowers progressively as the metal melts, until it rests on the abutting edge of the ingot mold, thus hermetically closing the ingot mold.
Die casting mold and carousel
A die casting machine has a carousel and a plurality of molds disposed around the carousel. The carousel rotates about a central axis, such that each of the plurality of molds comes into a position for casting in turn. Each mold has a toggle mechanism and extraction pins. A gripping mechanism may extend up through a hole in the carousel table to couple the toggle mechanism to an actuator. At least one of the pins may have a pin brake such that the pins remain in position when the mold is opened, suspending a newly cast metal part in mid-air, when the brake is activated. When the brake is deactivated, the pins may retract, and the part may be removed without damaging the cast part.

SOW CASTING AUTOMATED GUIDED VEHICLE
An automated guided vehicle (AGV) including a frame, ground-contacting elements connected to the frame for supporting the AGV and a heat shield is used in an automated sow casting facility. AGVs are adapted to get hold of, to move and to release moulds used for producing sows. A method of operating the casting facility involving AGVs to move moulds between stations is also described.

Metal sorting, melting and fabrication apparatus and methods
According to some aspects, a system for producing a target molten metal composition is provided. The system includes a sorting device that sorts input pieces of metal based on a control signal. Sorted pieces of metal are melted in a furnace, and a sensor measures the composition of molten metal in the furnace and in response generates a control signal that is sent to the sorting device.
