TAIL STOCK FOR A LONG VERTICALLY SUSPENDED WORKPIECE THAT WILL EXPERIENCE HEAT EXPANSION
A method of processing a workpiece includes supporting the workpiece on a tailstock extending along an axis, thermally processing the workpiece with a processing device, and displacing a portion of the tailstock assembly in response to thermal expansion of the workpiece as a result of processing with the thermal processing device.

MACHINE TOOL, MACHINING METHOD USING A MACHINE TOOL, AND MACHINING PROGRAM FOR MACHINE TOOL
A machine tool includes a workpiece spindle being rotatable about a rotation axis of the workpiece and configured to hold a workpiece such that the workpiece. A tool holding device is rotatable about a tool rotation axis and configured to hold a turning tool via which turning is performed on the workpiece. A movement mechanism is configured to move the tool holding device such that the turning tool rotates relatively to the workpiece toward an arbitrary direction perpendicular to the rotation axis of the workpiece. Control circuitry is configured to execute a machining program, to perform the turning, which includes an additional code which designates a target cutting direction of the arbitrary cutting direction, and to control the movement mechanism to move the turning tool in the target cutting direction with respect to the workpiece while the control circuitry executes the additional code.

Apparatus for driving a bone fixation pin
A bone fixation pin is inserted into a bone with an apparatus comprising a housing having a proximal portion and a distal portion, the distal portion having an inner surface and an opening configured to receive the bone fixation pin; a drive shaft having a proximal end configured to engage a handle and a distal end; and a body having an axis and a peripheral edge. The body comprises a bore along the axis, the bore being configured to slidably engage the distal end of the drive shaft; and a plurality of evenly spaced slots in the peripheral edge of the body. A plurality of chuck arms move radially along the evenly spaced slots in the peripheral edge of the body, each chuck arm having an inner surface and an outer surface. The distal end of the drive shaft and the body are within the proximal portion of the housing, the body being biased toward the distal end of the housing; and the inner surface of each chuck arm is configured to engage the bone fixation pin. The outer surface of each chuck arm slidably engages the inner surface of the housing.
Magnetic tool connector
A magnetic tool connector has a main body including a driven end and a working end. The working end defines a first chamber and second chamber. The first chamber is configured to receive an object to be driven. The second chamber has an opening at an end edge of the first chamber. The end edge of the first chamber defines an abutting surface for positioning the object within the first chamber. A magnetic assembly is slidably coupled to the main body and includes a magnet. The magnetic assembly is movable between a first position in which the magnet is located outside of the second chamber and a second position in which the magnet is located within the second chamber.
Device and method for flow-forming workpieces
A device for flow-forming workpieces having a rotatable first, outer forming tool for acting upon an outer contour of a first workpiece in the form of a hollow body. The device also has a first, inner forming tool for acting upon an inner contour of the workpiece. The first workpiece can be set in rotation about a first workpiece axis and can be plastically deformed by a pressure applied by the first, inner forming tool and the first, outer forming tool in a forming zone formed between the first forming tools by the material being made to flow between the first forming tools. The device has a drive for driving the first, outer forming tool.

Convertible center drill
A center for use on a tailstock of a lathe is disclosed. The center comprises an elongated shaft having a proximal end to be secured in a tailstock of a lathe, and a distal end that includes a conical tip for insertion into a center hole in a workpiece. The center also comprises a pivotable arm having a proximal arm end that is rotatably and slidingly secured to the elongated shaft. The pivotable arm has a distal arm end that is rotatable into a position atop the conical tip. The distal arm end has a distal side that includes a center drill, and a proximal side that includes a recess that is seatable onto the conical tip. The conical tip and the center drill have the same rotational centerpoint when the distal arm end is positioned over the conical tip and the conical tip is placed within the recess.
