Methods for controlling sex of oviparous embryos using light sources
The sex of embryos in eggs is influenced or controlled through the application of light having selected wavelengths in order to promote the development of embryos of a selected sex. An incubating device is provided having an interior cavity that can be sealed from an outside, and having a plurality of lighting elements disposed on each of a plurality of trays disposed in the interior cavity. Eggs are disposed on the trays, and pre-determined environmental conditions are applied to the interior cavity to promote hatching of the eggs. Concurrently with the application of the environmental conditions, the eggs are irradiated according to pre-determined lighting conditions. The lighting conditions include applying light having wavelengths substantially concentrated in selected ranges, such as light wavelengths within the 390-419 nm, 410-450 nm, 420-450 nm, 450-495 nm, or other narrow range.

Egg grasp device having interlaced members, and associated systems and methods
An egg grasp device is provided. Such a device includes a body and a plurality of elongated members extending from the body. The elongated members are interlaced to form a sheath capable of retaining an egg. The sheath has a distal end and a proximal end at which the elongated members are operably engaged with the body. The elongated members cooperate to define an opening at the distal end through which an egg is received when the elongated members engage and deflect about an egg such that the egg is seated within the sheath. Associated systems and methods are also provided.
Pheromone composition
To produce chicks from hatching eggs, the eggs are incubated in a hatcher incubator. After hatching, chicks of lesser quality are screened out, and the remaining chicks are transferred to a poultry barn. During the first week in the barn, a number of chicks are lost. When the loss rate exceeds a certain value, treatment with antibiotics is usually applied. Methods and compositions for reducing the loss rate during the first week and thus the number of antibiotic treatments are disclosed. The methods include providing in the air of the hatcher incubator at least during a final stage of the incubation and hatching of the eggs in the hatcher incubator, an active amount of a pheromone composition with the appeasing effect of the mother hen pheromone. The pheromone composition can be applied in the hatcher incubator at a specific height in the form of a formulation.

INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD, PROGRAM, AND OBSERVATION SYSTEM
An information processing apparatus according to the present technology includes an acquisition section and a prediction section. The acquisition section acquires a plurality of chronologically captured observation images of a fertilized egg, and culture environment information regarding the fertilized egg. Using the plurality of observation images and the culture environment information, the prediction section predicts a period of time necessary until the fertilized egg reaches a specified form of development, and a quality of the fertilized egg in the form of development.
TRANSFER MACHINE FOR LAYING EGGS ON A FLOOR OF A POULTRY HOUSE, SAID EGGS BEING LOCATED IN SETTER TRAYS IN WHICH THEY WERE SET
A transfer machine, the setter trays being placed with set eggs on a carrying mechanism. The carrying mechanism positions the setter trays under a transfer mechanism that includes a series of egg pick-ups. By moving the transfer mechanism down towards the eggs, the egg pick-ups can pick up the eggs and lift them out of the setter trays.
Method for transferring pre-incubated eggs to a poultry house and transfer machine used therewith
A method is provided, wherein the eggs which are pre-incubated in setter trays are transferred to the poultry house in these setter trays. In the poultry house, a layer of insulating covering material is provided on the floor of the poultry house, in one or more strips. The covering material comprises, in particular, litter which is applied in a layer thickness of at least 2 cm. By a set of egg pickup members of a transfer machine, the pre-incubated eggs are removed in the poultry house from the setter trays, after which they are positioned on the covering material by the transfer machine. In this way, the eggs can be placed in the poultry house efficiently, with a minimal risk of damage to the eggs a high hatching rate being ensured.

Method for hatching eggs
The present invention relates to a method for producing poultry in, particular chicks, at a hatchery, the method comprising; a) incubating a batch of eggs in incubating trays in an incubating device during a first incubating period of between about 7 to about 11 days, and then, b) for each egg of the batch of eggs, determining of gender of the chick embryo, in particular after determination if the egg contains a well-developed or more specifically a living embryo, c) based on the gender of a chick embryo, dividing the batch of eggs into at least a male batch portion and a female batch portion.
