Electric cutting system

An electric power saw/cutter includes a rotatable saw structure, a rear handle with a switch/speed control, a front handle, and a drive unit for rotating the saw structure. The drive unit includes a saw structure drive arrangement to which the saw structure is attachable, a transmission for driving the saw drive arrangement, an electric motor for driving an input shaft of the transmission, and a support structure for holding/carrying the saw structure drive arrangement. The transmission and the electric motor may be characterized in that the front handle and the rear handle are directly connected to each other to form a handle unit, which unit is resiliently connected to the drive unit, so that vibrations from the saw blade and drive unit will be reduced in the handle unit.

The guide pads include a pad body that includes a pad material. The pad material includes a first plurality of small graphite particles, a second plurality of large graphite particles, and at least one additional component that includes a cured resin material. The guide assemblies include a guide arm and a guide pad operatively attached to the guide arm. The circular saws include at least one circular saw blade that defines a first blade side and an opposed second blade side, a first guide assembly positioned on the first blade side, and a second guide assembly positioned on the second blade side. The methods include methods of operating the circular saws and/or manufacturing the guide pads.

Safety system for miter saw and method of use thereof

A safety system for a power miter saw comprises a support member, at least one multidirectional manipulator including a workpiece holder member moveably mounted to the support member for securing a workpiece in place, and a control box. The workpiece holder member includes a presence indicator operatively connected to the control box and configured to detect the physical presence of a saw operator's hand on the at least one multidirectional manipulator when the saw operator's hand engages the presence indicator. The control box is operatively connectable to a trigger switch of the power miter saw so that an electric motor of the power miter saw is activated only when both the presence indicator of the safety system and the trigger switch of the power miter saw are engaged by both hands of an operator of the power miter saw.

Drop arm reset method

A method of resetting a drop arm assembly in a power tool assembly from a first drop arm assembly position whereat a portion of a shaping device mounted on the drop arm assembly does not extend above a workpiece support surface, includes removing a throat plate from a throat plate opening, moving at least a portion of a blade wrench downwardly through the throat plate opening, operably coupling the blade wrench with an arbor shaft of a drop arm assembly, releasing a first latch from engagement with a drop arm frame of the drop arm assembly after removing the throat plate, pulling the coupled blade wrench in an upwardly direction to a second drop arm assembly position whereat the portion of the shaping device extends above a workpiece support surface, and latching the drop arm assembly at the second drop arm assembly position with a second latch.
