Constant current control systems and methods

Systems and methods for providing a constant current controller for use in constant current welding applications are described. In one embodiment, a current controller controls the output current of the welding torch without directly measuring the output current of the welding torch. The current controller controls or sets a current in a primary winding of a transformer in an inverter of a welding power supply to control the output current of the welding torch.

Monitoring a thermal cutting process

A device for monitoring, in particular for closed-loop control, of a thermal cutting process carried out on a workpiece. The device includes a focusing unit for focusing a machining beam, in particular a laser beam, onto the workpiece for the formation of a kerf on the workpiece. The device also includes an image acquisition unit to generate at least one image of a region of the workpiece, and an evaluation unit configured to determine, based on the at least one image, at least one measured variable for the course of the gap width of the kerf in a thickness direction of the workpiece. The invention also relates to an associated method for monitoring, in particular for closed-loop control, of a thermal cutting process carried out on a workpiece.

SUBSEA CONNECTOR HANDLE

A subsea wet-mateable connector handle has a handle part, a bushing support ring, a resilient bushing, a connector mount and a securing pin. A method of manufacturing a subsea wet-mateable connector handle includes cutting a handle part from a sheet of inherently corrosion resistant metal plate by a two-dimensional cutting process. A bushing support ring and a bushing are assembled onto a limb extending from the handle part. A connector mount is mounted to the bushing and the connector mount and bushing are fixed to the handle part with the securing pin.

WELD TRAINING SYSTEMS WITH RESETTABLE TARGET TOOL IMAGES
20230066872 · 2023-03-02 ·

Described herein are examples of weld training systems that show (e.g., transparent and/or translucent) “ghost” images of a welding tool on a display screen of a welding headgear to indicate target positions and/or target orientations of an actual welding tool. In some examples, the weld training systems may additionally “reset” the target tool image to a position closer to the actual welding tool if the target tool image gets too far away. The ability to “reset” the target tool image to a position closer to the actual welding tool may help in minimizing a risk that an operator 106 will overcompensate to try to catch up with the target tool image, which can be detrimental to the weld. Additionally, resetting the target tool image to a position closer the welding tool may allow an operator to better perceive and/or understand differences in orientation and/or other technique parameters.

Plasma cutting method and torch for implementing same

A plasma cutting method providing a plasma torch having an electrode disposed within a first nozzle with a first exit section facing an end of the electrode. The first gas source supplies a gas to the first nozzle. A second nozzle is arranged concentrically around the first nozzle and has a second exit section substantially facing the first exit section. A second gas source supplies the gas between the first nozzle and the second nozzle. The electrode is supplied with a current, and the first and second nozzles are supplied with the gas to form a plasma with the gas introduced into the first nozzle. The surrounding pressure around the plasma jet in the second nozzle at the exit of the first nozzle is controlled to be at least superior to the atmospheric pressure and inferior to the pressure in the first exit section.
