The method allows the entire flexspline to be metal printed, including all the components: the output surface with mating features, the thin wall of the cup, and the teeth integral to the flexspline. An apparatus and a method for powder bed fusion additive manufacturing involve a multiple-chamber design achieving a high efficiency and throughput. The multiple-chamber design features concurrent printing of one or more print jobs inside one or more build chambers, side removals of printed objects from build chambers allowing quick exchanges of powdered materials, and capabilities of elevated process temperature controls of build chambers and post processing heat treatments of printed objects. The multiple-chamber design also includes a height-adjustable optical assembly in combination with a fixed build platform method suitable for large and heavy printed objects.
Additive manufacturing apparatus and method
A method of making a part includes the steps of: securing a build platform to an actuator which is disposed in a build chamber, depositing a powder onto the build platform; directing a beam from a directed energy source to fuse the powder; moving the actuator vertically downward within the build chamber by a layer increment of powder; repeating in a cycle the steps of depositing, directing, and moving to build up the part in a layer-by-layer fashion until the part is complete; lifting the build platform away from the actuator to create an opening therebetween; and evacuating the powder from the build chamber through the opening.

A tubular member includes a tube body, a tube end, an exterior surface, an interior surface, a nominal wall thickness, a longitudinal axis, a welded seam, and a patch of material. The welded seam forms an arcuate portion of the interior surface, and the patch covers a portion of the interior surface that includes a portion of the welded seam, extending from the tube end to an axially spaced first location. The resulting interior surface from the tube end to the axially spaced first location has a uniform inside diameter.
SCATTER REDUCTION IN ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING
Systems and methods for reducing charged powder particle scattering in powder-bed fusion (PBF) systems are provided. A PBF apparatus can include a structure that supports a layer of powder material having a plurality of particles of powder. For example, the structure can be a build plate, a build floor, a build piece, etc. The apparatus can also include an energy beam source that generates an energy beam and a deflector that applies the energy beam to fuse an area of the powder material in the layer. The energy beam can electrically charge the particles of powder. The apparatus can also include an electrical system that generates an electrical force between the structure and the charged particles of powder. For example, the electrical system can include a voltage source that applies a first voltage to the structure.
Hybrid article, method for forming hybrid article and method for welding
A hybrid article is disclosed including a sintered coating disposed on and circumscribing the lateral surface of a core having a core material and a greater density than the sintered coating. The sintered coating includes more than about 95% up to about 99.5% of a first metallic particulate material including a first melting point, and from about 0.5% up to about 5% of a second metallic particulate material having a second melting point lower than the first melting point. A method for forming the hybrid article is disclosed including disposing the core in a die, introducing a slurry having the metallic particulate materials into a gap between the lateral surface and the die, and sintering the slurry. A method for welding a workpiece is disclosed including the hybrid article serving as a weld filler.
