A compound contour vacuum track, and an automated fastening machine using the track, for automation of final assembly inside an aircraft fuselage. The track is mounted at an angle to a surface, such as an inside surface of the fuselage, wherein the surface has one or more holes through which fasteners are inserted. The automated fastening machine is mounted on the track to traverse the track while performing fastening functions and steps. The automated fastening machine includes a carriage, arm, and end effector, wherein the arm is mounted on the carriage and the end effector is mounted on the arm. The carriage is attached to the track for positioning the arm and end effector, the arm is attached to the carriage for positioning the end effector, and the end effector is attached to the arm for installing the fasteners into the holes of the surface.

Automated apparatus for moving an end effector over a surface of an airfoil-shaped body
An automated apparatus comprising: a chassis configured to be mounted on an airfoil-shaped body without contacting its trailing edge; a carriage translatably coupled to the chassis; and an end effector pivotably coupled to the carriage. The chassis comprises: a frame; a motorized drive rolling element rotatably coupled to the frame; a rocker mechanism pivotably coupled to the frame; first and second ball and socket bearings mounted to opposing ends of the rocker arm; and a third ball and socket bearing mounted to the frame. During a maintenance procedure, the airfoil-shaped body is oriented at a non-zero angle of attack with the leading edge higher than the trailing edge and with the balls of the ball and socket bearings in contact with the airfoil-shaped body. A gravitational force exerted urges the chassis toward the trailing edge of the airfoil-shaped body for all chordwise positions of the carriage.

According to one implementation, a drilling machine includes at least one drilling structure, a travelling machine, a reader and a controlling device such as a controlling circuit. The at least one drilling structure drills an object to be drilled. The travelling machine positions the at least one drilling structure in a travelling direction of the travelling machine by travelling in a direction different from a drilling direction. The reader reads information recorded on at least one integrated circuit tag attached to at least one drilling plate attached to the object to be drilled. The controlling device controls the travelling machine based on the information read by the reader.

Positioning and centering device, system, and method comprises a pointer having a flat-surface portion and able to be chucked in a cutting-bit holder, together with a thickness gauge mounted relative to a template holder cross member having a positioning and centering hole therein, a centering line on an associated workpiece cutting table, an adjustable fence and scale combination, and a guide-bearing shaft collar, wherein the method comprises inserting the pointer into the router chuck, adjusting the template holder, and the router pinned to the template holder, and through a center hole of a template, to align the pointer with the workpiece table centering line, using the thickness gauge to determine a workpiece thickness midpoint, using the fence and scale combination to center the workpiece on the table, and using the locking collar to enable easy re-location of the guide bearing relative to the tapered template on a subsequent workpiece.
Hand-held power tool, edge guide and tool system
A hand-held power tool, in particular a router, includes a machine housing and a support device for guiding the hand-held power tool on a workpiece. The support device has a carrier element, in which the machine housing is at least partially received and fastened. A foot plate which allows an insert tool, in particular a milling tool, to pass through and which is designed to bear against a workpiece is fastened to an end flange of the carrier element facing away from the machine housing. An edge guide for guiding the hand-held power tool along an edge of the workpiece is fastenable to the end flange of the carrier element. A groove is formed in the end flange. A fastening portion of a holding arm of the edge guide can be received interlockingly in the groove and can be fastened by means of at least one fastening element.
Base for a trim router
A tool support incorporates height adjustment and locking features in common components. A pivoting door is used to control the engagement of a height adjustment threaded shaft with the bearing flange of the power tool, with the position of the pivoting door controlled by a manual actuator. In one position the manual actuator allows the door to pivot outward to disengage the height adjustment shaft from the bearing flange. In a second position the manual actuator moves the door to engage the height adjustment shaft with the bearing flange to permit micro height adjustment by rotation of the height adjustment shaft. In a third position the manual actuator presses the door into the height adjustment shaft to effectively lock the shaft in position.
