Systems, methods and apparatus for guided tools with multiple positioning systems
The present disclosure is directed to performing work on a working surface based on a desired path using a working member. The disclosed system advances the working member with respect to the desired path using a first positioning system and a second positioning system. The first positioning system comprises a frame and actuators operable to advance the working member with respect to a portion of the desired path within an adjustment region. The second positioning system comprises actuators operable to move the frame. By moving the frame using the second positioning system, the first positioning system advances the working member with respect to a portion of the desired path that was outside the adjustment region before the frame was moved.
AUTOMATICALLY GUIDED TOOLS
A position correcting system, method and tool for guiding a tool during its use based on its location relative to the material being worked on. Provided is a system and tool which uses its auto correcting technology to precisely rout or cut material. The invention provides a camera which is used to track the visual features of the surface of the material being cut to build a map and locate an image on that map used to reference the location of the tool for auto-correction of the cutting path.
Assembly system for an automated internal assembly of an aircraft fuselage
An assembly system for an automated internal assembly on a curved assembly surface of an aircraft fuselage includes two assembly rails shaped in accordance with a curvature of the assembly surface such that they follow a longitudinal direction or a peripheral direction of the aircraft fuselage, so that the assembly rails are fastenable in the aircraft fuselage, along the longitudinal direction or along the peripheral direction of the aircraft fuselage, parallel to one another and parallel to the assembly surface of the aircraft fuselage; an assembly slide configured to slide along the assembly rails; and a tool supported by the assembly slide and configured to perform an assembly step; wherein the assembly slide has an assembly axis, along which the tool is movable relative to the assembly slide; and wherein the assembly axis is configured such that it follows the curvature of the assembly surface of the aircraft fuselage.
Board manipulation device
A device for manipulating a board is provided, the device comprising: a body having an upper side and a lower side; the body having a proximal end comprising an angled face, wherein the angled face is formed on the upper side, and wherein the angled face includes an aperture extending into the angled face and through the body; the body having a distal end including a U-shaped board engagement member including a pair of legs; and the body having at least one joist alignment member extending downwardly from the lower side.
ROUTER SLED
A router sled for woodworking. The router sled includes a router, a housing for holding the router, the router being slidably mounted to a rail. The rail being defined on a platform. The housing is slidably mounted to the rail. The housing slides with the router along the rail.
Apparatus for supporting a workpiece
Apparatus (101) for supporting a workpiece (201), comprising a frame structure (102) for holding a workpiece (201), a base element (103) for supporting the frame structure (102), and a tool support element (110) for holding a tool. The frame structure (102) comprises lower and upper frame elements (107, 108) between which a workpiece (201) is receivable, and the upper frame element (108) is movable with respect to the lower frame element (107) in a Z-axis direction (106), for clamping a workpiece (102) therebetween. The tool support element (110) is movable with respect to the upper frame element (108) in an X-axis direction (104). The frame structure (102) is movable with respect to the base element (103), and with respect to a workpiece held between the lower and upper frame elements (107, 108), in a Y-axis direction (105). A CNC machine comprising the apparatus (101).
System and method for forming aligned holes in a work piece
A novel drill jig includes an edge alignment guide, a hole-spacing assembly, a second guide, a biasing member, and an actuator. The edge alignment guide is configured to abut an edge of a workpiece to facilitate movement of the workpiece along a first straight line. The hole-spacing assembly includes a protrusion disposed to engage a preexisting hole in a workpiece positioned by the edge alignment guide. The second guide is coupled to the hole-spacing assembly and is configured to facilitate movement of the hole-spacing assembly along a second straight line perpendicular to the first straight line. The first biasing member is coupled to the hole-spacing assembly and is operative to exert a force on the hole-spacing assembly in a direction parallel to the second straight line. An actuator moves the hole-spacing assembly along the second straight line via the first biasing member.
Track-aligned process tools and process of using
During an assembly process for an aircraft, segments of the fuselage are fabricated separately prior to joining the segments together to form the complete fuselage. In order to ensure that abutting ends of the segments mate together correctly, a machining process is performed along the edges of the segments at their ends. A trim-tool assembly includes an indexing cart mounted to a track secured to a surface of the workpiece, where a setting on the indexing cart varies a distance between a centerline of the track and an edge of a workpiece. The trim-tool assembly further includes a tool cart mounted to the track and translatable along the track. The tool cart includes a process tool that performs a machining process on the workpiece at a fixed distance from the centerline of the track.
