Replication of undifferentiated cells in a weightless environment, uses thereof and a facility for such replication and the acceleration of the evolution of plants and animals
The present invention provides manufacturing processes for biological replication of undifferentiated plant and animal cells and tissue in a weightless condition, including those systems used in current stem cell research and development and use of undifferentiated parenchyma in plants. The present invention further provides methods for adapting plants and animals to survive outside their native environments. In particular, undifferentiated cells from plants or animals are replicated under weightless conditions in which cell replication or proliferation is accelerated and sustained. Under such conditions, the undifferentiated cells can be “forced” to express sets of genes useful for survival in particular environmental conditions. In this manner, cells surviving prolonged exposure to specific environmental conditions can be selected for and cultivated to produce an organism adapted to that particular environment in an accelerated manner. Methods of identifying specific genes associated with adaptation of a plant or animal to a specific environment are also disclosed.

Transgenic insect cells comprising a bacterial GlcNAc-6-P 2′-epimerase
The present invention relates to methods of facilitating the expression of recombinant polypeptides from cells, extracellular fluids, extracellular fibers, or any combination thereof, obtained from transgenic insect cells and larvae comprising a bacterial GlcNAc-6-P 2′-epimerase (GNPE), which is capable of converting N-acetyl-D-glucosamine-6-phosphate (GlcNAc-6-P) to N-acetyl-D-mannosamine-6-phosphate (ManNAc-6-P). The invention relates to methods to promote efficient glycoconjugate sialylation, by providing simpler ways to produce large intracellular pools of sialic acid precursors. The invention is also directed to nucleic acids, vectors, and cells comprising nucleic acids encoding polypeptides involved in the synthesis of sialic acid precursors, and cells in combination with nucleic acids encoding glycosyltransferases, including sialyltransferases, to facilitate the production of humanized recombinant glycoproteins. The engineered cells can be used to produce glycosylated proteins lepidopteran insects and cultured cell lines derived from Spodoptera frugiperda, Trichoplusia ni, and silkworms, such as Bombyx mori, particularly those that can be infected by baculovirus expression vectors.
Processing and use of reproductive tract fluids to improve the in vitro production of mammalian embryos
Processing and use of fluids from the reproductive tract (biofluids) to improve the in vitro production of mammalian embryos comprising the following steps: a) fractionation and processing of biofluids through a sorting, purification, lyophilization and subsequent storage; b) a method of sperm capacitation in a culture medium supplemented with biofluids; c) in vitro fertilization in a medium enriched with biofluids and d) subsequent in vitro culture with development of the obtained embryos to any stage of preimplantational development in culture media supplemented with biofluids.

Insect singulation and classification
An insect sortation system can track movement of insects along a predefined pathway. The insect sortation system includes a puff-back system for moving insects toward an inlet of the pathway and a puff-forward system for moving insects toward an outlet of the pathway. An overhead imaging system captures images of the insects at one or more locations along the pathway. Once imaged, the insect may be classified into a category (e.g., sex category, species category, size category, etc.) using a variety of different classification approaches including, for example, an industrial vision classifier and/or a machine learning classifier. Once classified, the insects can be directed to various chambers for subsequent processing.
