Methods and apparatus for use with a trimmer to produce a plurality of books having different trim sizes are disclosed. An example method includes obtaining recipient data; based on the recipient data, generating an order to produce first books and second books, the first books having a first size and the second books having a second size, the second size different from the first size; and producing the first books and the second books in accordance with the order by: actuating a first backstop to enable a first book of the first books to engage the first backstop; trimming the first book with a cutting device; and actuating a second backstop to enable a second book of the second books to engage the second backstop; and trimming the second book with the cutting device, the first backstop at a first distance from the cutting device and the second backstop at a second distance from the cutting device.
Quill stop
Embodiments of a quill stop are disclosed. The quill stop can move between an open and closed position. The quill stop has a left and a right securing member, a locking element, a right arm, a left arm, and a left arm spring. The right arm can actuate the locking element out of engagement with a locking projection so that the right securing member and the left securing member can move relative to each other and allow a rod to be inserted between them. The locking element prevents unwanted actuation of the quill stop during operation.

A device for heating a plurality of functional or receiving elements, such as a cam, balancing mass, gearwheel and/or a bearing, may include a plurality of holding balconies disposed above one another along an axis each associated with a respective receiving element, a plurality of workstations includes a loading station, a heating station and an unloading station, and an induction heating device including a plurality of accommodation elements. The plurality of holding balconies may be individually movable in an axial direction of an axis, and/or having a greater spacing in the axial direction with respect to one another in the loading station and/or the unloading station than in the heating station. The plurality of accommodation elements may be jointly adjustable in the axial direction.

Machining System with Optimal Paths
A method for implementing machining operations for a workpiece. Pre-existing hole locations for temporary fasteners in the workpiece requiring a clamp-up force for performing the machining operations to form holes in the workpiece is identified. A set of the pre-existing hole locations is determined from the pre-existing hole locations that results in an optimal path for performing the machining operations on the workpiece taking into account clamp-up force specifications for the workpiece. The optimal path has a near-minimum distance. An ordered sequence for performing the machining operations to form the holes at hole locations is determined that has the optimal path. Robotic control files that causes robotic devices to perform the machining operations using the optimal path is created. The robotic devices are operated using the robotic control files to form the holes in the ordered sequence using the optimal path that takes into account the clamp-up force specifications.
METHOD FOR DETERMINING LOCATIONS OF SUPPORTING POINTS FOR A MACHINE TOOL
A method for determining locations of supporting points for a machine tool is proposed. Multiple test coordinate sets in relation to the machine tool are used in cooperation with corresponding deformation index values for multiple components of the machine tool to obtain a deformation index equation that relates to assessed deformation of the components in response to different coordinates for the supporting points. The deformation index equation is used to acquire an optimal coordinate set for the supporting points.
