Fixturing apparatus
A fixturing apparatus is described that can be used with metrology apparatus, such as coordinate measuring machines, flexible gauges and the like. The fixturing apparatus has a base and a plurality of supports extending from the base that are configured to retain an object. At least one of the plurality of supports comprises a floating support having a floating support element that is moveable relative to the base upon contact with an object being loaded into the fixture. A locking mechanism, such as a pneumatic locking mechanism, is provided that can be actuated to immobilise each floating support element relative to the base. The object may have a glass sheet. A corresponding method of fixturing an object is also described.
5-axis processing machine
A 5-axis processing machine includes a mounting table on which a tool and a work piece are placed; and a control unit including a calculation unit, a determination unit, and a correction unit; wherein the mounting table is moved relatively by three linear axes and two rotation axes based on NC data, the two rotation axes include a first axis and a second axis, the calculation unit calculates an orientation of the work piece with respect to the tool at a time of processing from NC data and a directions of rotation centers of an actual first axis and an actual second axis, the determination unit determines whether or not the calculated orientation of the work piece is included in an inoperable range, the inoperable range being the inoperable angle range, and the correction unit corrects the orientation of the work piece with respect to the tool.
Machining Center for Processing Center Groove and Center Groove Processing Method of a Crankshaft Using the Same
A machining center for machining a center groove on a pulley and a flange formed at opposite ends of a crankshaft of a vehicle includes a measurement unit configured to measure a moment of the crankshaft when the crankshaft is loaded and actuated, a control unit configured to calculate an imbalance amount of the crankshaft and to derive center drill coordinates for removing the imbalance amount, a compensation unit mounted in a base frame and configured to compensate a position of the crankshaft by rotating first and second rotating elements based on the center drill coordinates inputted from the control unit when the crankshaft is transported and clamped by a clamping system, and a machining unit configured to machine the center groove in the pulley and the flange of the crankshaft.
Rivet block including integrated rivet feed bores
A method and rivet apparatus comprise a rivet block, the rivet block comprising a rivet block, a pin bore, and a rivet feed bore. The rivet block is comprised of a top end and a bottom end. The pin bore includes a top end and a bottom end and is disposed within the rivet block. The pin bore extends from the top end to the bottom end of the rivet block and guides a rivet pin that slides downward within the pin bore to push a head of a rivet into a workpiece. The rivet feed bore includes a top end and a bottom end and is disposed within the rivet block. The rivet feed bore extends from the top end to the bottom end of the rivet block, accepts the rivet at the top end of the rivet feed bore, and guides the rivet to the bottom end of the rivet feed bore. The rivet feed bore intersecting the pin bore between the top end and the bottom end of the pin bore at an oblique angle.

Drill system, an upper drill tool and a lower drill tool for precision forming of openings in a bracket, and methods of use
An upper drill tool including a central chuck, an upper component, a lower component and a coupling assembly. The central chuck has a chuck base and a chuck structurally configured to retain a drill bit. The upper component is attached to the central chuck and has a lower stop surface. The lower component has a central body and an outer ring that threadedly engages the central body, with the outer ring having an upper stop. The coupling assembly is configured to facilitate the slidable movement of the lower component from a first orientation wherein the upper stop is spaced apart from the lower stop surface and a second orientation wherein the upper stop is in abutting engagement with the lower stop surface, with the first orientation and the second orientation defining a stroke.
Quill stop
Embodiments of a quill stop are disclosed. The quill stop can move between an open and closed position. The quill stop has a left and a right securing member, a locking element, a right arm, a left arm, and a left arm spring. The right arm can actuate the locking element out of engagement with a locking projection so that the right securing member and the left securing member can move relative to each other and allow a rod to be inserted between them. The locking element prevents unwanted actuation of the quill stop during operation.
