Multi-Spindle Machine Tools
The present invention provides certain additional improvements for such mechanical-type multi-axis machine tools. These improvements include: (1) permitting the spindles to be rotated about their respective axes relative to the member independently of one another, (2) providing a low-cost, and yet highly-effective, sensor apparatus for determining the angular position of the member relative to the frame without the use of an expensive encoder or the like, (3) mounting the rotatable member more precisely relative to the frame, and (4) providing a zero-backlash tool slide on the frame for imparting an action to a workpiece.

WORKPIECE PALLET AND MACHINING SYSTEM
A workpiece pallet for use for additive and subtractive workpiece machining, including a clamping plate which has a first interface which is designed for a form-fitting fixation to a machining table of a processing machine, the workpiece pallet further including a receiving plate, which has a second interface for fixing a workpiece, wherein the clamping plate and the receiving plate are arranged spaced apart from one another and wherein a supporting web is arranged in a connecting gap between an upper surface of the clamping plate and a lower surface of the receiving plate, which supporting web is connected to the upper surface of the clamping plate and to the lower surface of the receiving plate, the supporting web having in a cross-sectional plane aligned parallel to the lower surface of the receiving plate a cross-sectional area which is less than 15 percent of an area of the lower surface of the receiving plate.
TOOL REST FOR MACHINE TOOL
A tool rest for a machine tool, with a plurality of rotary tools and a tool-rotating drive shaft supported rotatably so that its rotation is transmitted to each rotary tool. The tool rest includes: a plurality of input portions fixed to the tool-rotating drive shaft; and engaging portions corresponding to the respective input portions, rotatably supported and adopted to be driven in rotation by the input portions for engaging with engaged portions of each rotary tool to transmit power when a prescribed rotational phase is reached. Adjusting means is provided between a prescribed input portion and the engaging portion, for adjusting the phase of the engaging portion relative to the tool-rotating drive shaft such that the engaging portions and the corresponding engaged portions are engaged simultaneously.

Machine tool
A machine tool includes: a plurality of machining units, each including: a first saddle movable in a right-left direction; a second saddle supported by the first saddle and movable in an up-down direction; and a spindle device supported by the second saddle and movable in a front-rear direction. The plurality of machining units are arranged in the right-left direction such that spindles provided in the respective spindle devices are parallel to each other. The machining tool further includes an X-axis moving mechanism that moves the first saddle in the right-left direction; and a control device that controls an operation of the X-axis moving mechanism during machining of a workpiece and during correction of a spindle spacing between the machining units. A plurality of the X-axis moving mechanisms are provided corresponding to the respective machining units.
