NET, TETHER STORING APPARATUS, AND MANUFACTURING METHOD FOR A NET
20200283934 · 2020-09-10 ·

[Object] To provide a tether that is automatically deformed from a deployment state in case of cutting or the like.

[Solving Means] A tether 10 is a net that kinks and is automatically deformed upon tension release. The tether 10 has a length of several kilometers to several tens of kilometers upon deployment and is capable of shrinking to have a length of approximately several tens of meters to several hundreds of meters by kinking and automatically being deformed when the tension is released because of cutting or the like.

WIRE NETTING SYSTEM

ROPE SEVERING DEVICE
20200267957 · 2020-08-27 ·

A rope severing device for cutting a rope after a continued compressive force is disclosed. The rope severing device includes a housing having a base and a top and the top is movably mounted to the base such that the top can move axially with respect to the base. A blade is positioned at least partially within the housing and fixedly mounted with respect to the base. In some embodiments, an elastic member is positioned inside the housing in contact with the base and a damper is attached to the base to dampen relative movement of the top and the base. Upon application of a compressive force to the housing, the top moves toward the base and the blade is at least partially exposed through an opening in the top to sever a rope attached to the rope severing device.

Remote Fishery Management System
20200252576 · 2020-08-06 · ·

A system to monitor compliance with fishery management regulations by recording time and location stamped video of a catch. The system utilizes battery powered miniature camera/DVR modules capable of being mounted virtually anywhere on a fishing vessel. The cameras are activated by software triggers using motion and changes in hydraulic pressure to avoid the capture of unwanted video and unnecessarily draining the battery. A method of analyzing the video data to ascertain species, size, and mass is also disclosed.

Detection of Derelict Fishing Gear
20200239108 · 2020-07-30 ·

The location of lost or entangled fishing gear, known as derelict gear, is detected. The motion or change of position of a buoy attached to fishing gear is determined via sensors mounted on the buoy and compared to typical buoy motion. If the buoy has moved beyond a threshold value from its original location, an alert is sent to the fisherman. The available sensor data will be used to determine the likelihood of loss or entanglement. This alert facilitates recovery of lost or entangled gear by identifying where immediate retrieval efforts should be focused. The number of traps lost to the ocean that otherwise would continue to trap or entangle marine life may be reduced.

Underwater mobile body and non-transitory computer readable medium

An underwater mobile body includes: a movement control unit that controls movement underwater; a detection unit that moves underwater under the control of the movement control unit and that detects a position of a fish; and a guidance unit that guides the fish based on the position of the fish detected by the detection unit.

NET HAVING HOOP FRAME CONNECTED TO HANDLE

A net for fishing or other purposes. The net includes a hoop frame connected to a pole by a yoke. The yoke defines sockets in which respective arms of the hoop frame and a distal end of the pole are received. Plugs in the arms of the hoop frame desirably prevent water from passing the plugs into the hoop frame. A plug in the distal end of the pole desirably prevents water from passing the plug into the pole. The yoke and plugs provide a robust connection of the hoop frame to the pole and help retain air in the hoop frame and pole for buoyancy of the net.
