METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR APPLYING ANNULAR DOSES
A method and an apparatus for forming annular doses provides a flow of plasticised material supplied by an extruder which passes through a channel that is first cylindrical and then annular. The material exits from an annular outlet in front of which a cutting element passes that separates an annular dose of material. The dose is deposited on a surface of a capsule having a capacity to adhere to the dose that is greater than the cutting element. The surface and the cutting element are distanced from one another in such a manner that the annular dose remaining adhering to the capsule is detached from the element. Detachment can be promoted by a flow of air.
OROMUCOSAL FILM PREPARATION
The Invention relates to an oromucosal film preparation. According to the invention, said oromucosal film preparation comprises an active-ingredient containing surface area (3) and an active-ingredient free surface area (4). Said surface area (4) which is free of active-ingredients can be used as an application aid for the safe and simple application of the film preparation.
POLYMERIC MATERIAL FOR CONTAINER
A vessel is configured to hold a product in an interior region formed in the vessel. The vessel is formed using a blow-molding process in which a multiple layer parison is blow molded to form the vessel. The multiple layer parison is formed in an extrusion process in which a number of extruders are arranged to co-extrude associated inner and outer parisons to establish the multiple layer parison.
PRESSURE CHAMBER FOR BLOWN FILM EXTRUSION
A pressure chamber is provided for a blown film extrusion apparatus having (i) a die head for extruding a tubular polymer bubble, and (ii) a cooling assembly down-stream of the die head for receiving the bubble and applying a cooling fluid to the bubble. The pressure chamber includes an upstream end wall sealed around the die head outlet, and extending outward from the seal; a side wall movable between a closed position for controlling air flow from a chamber volume surrounding the bubble to the atmosphere, and an open position for permitting air flow from the chamber volume to the atmosphere. The upstream end wall has an inlet for receiving air from an air supply, and an outlet in fluid communication with the inlet and configured to direct the air into the chamber volume to pressurize the chamber volume when the side wall is in the closed position.
ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING COMPOSITION, METHOD AND SYSTEM
A composition for additive manufacturing is provided. The composition comprises a solvent and a rubber dissolved in the solvent, wherein the ratio of rubber to solvent is in a range of 1:10 to 3:5. A method of manufacturing an object is also provided. The method includes forming a first layer of the object by dispensing a printable composition comprising rubber dissolved in a solvent, in a ratio of 1:10 to 3:5 allowing at least a portion of the solvent in the first layer to evaporate, adding a second layer to the first layer by dispending a printable composition comprising a rubber dissolved in a solvent in a ratio of 1:10 to 3:5 and allowing at least a portion of the solvent in the second layer to evaporate.
Polymer blends
The present invention provides, among other things, extruded blends of aliphatic polycarbonates and polyolefins. In one aspect, provided blends comprise aliphatic polycarbonates such as poly(propylene carbonate) and a lesser amount of a crystalline or semicrystalline polymer. In certain embodiments, provided blends are characterized in that they exhibit unexpected improvements in their elongation properties. In another aspect, the invention provides methods of making such materials and applications of the materials in applications such as the manufacture of consumer packaging materials.

A consumable filament for use in an extrusion-based additive manufacturing system, where the consumable filament comprises a core portion of a first thermoplastic material, and a shell portion of a second thermoplastic material that is compositionally different from the first thermoplastic material, where the consumable filament is configured to be melted and extruded to form roads of a plurality of solidified layers of a three-dimensional object, and where the roads at least partially retain cross-sectional profiles corresponding to the core portion and the shell portion of the consumable filament.
Mechanically strong absorbable polymeric blend compositions of precisely controllable absorption rates, processing methods, and products therefrom
Novel absorbable polymer blends are disclosed. The blends are useful for manufacturing medical devices having engineered degradation and breaking strength retention in vivo. The blends consist of a first absorbable polymeric component and a second absorbable polymeric component. The weight average molecular weight of the first polymeric component is higher than the weight average molecular weight of the second polymeric component. At least at least one of said components is at least partially end-capped by a carboxylic acid group. Further aspects are medical devices made therefrom.
Method and Device for the Production and Further Processing of a Film Tube
The invention describes a method for the production and further processing of a film tube (6), in which method a plastic melt is transferred into a cylindrical melt by means of an extrusion die (4), the melt flow is drawn out through an annular gap (5) associated with the extrusion die (4) in order to form the film tube (6), and at least one temperature-controlled volume flow comprising at least one fluid is conducted by means of a temperature control device (8) onto the outer periphery of the film tube (6), wherein the temperature control device (8) is divided into peripheral segments, wherein a volume flow of different magnitude and/or different temperature is produced by means of each peripheral segment such that the temperature control of the film tube (6) differs over the periphery of the film tube, and wherein the film tube (6) is flattened by means of a flattening device (9), the flattening device (9) being rotated in relation to the extrusion die (4). A first volume flow in at least one peripheral segment of the temperature control device (8) differs from the volume flow of other peripheral segments so that at least one thick point (13) is produced on the film tube, wherein the first volume flow is produced by means of adjacent peripheral segments in succession, wherein the first volume flow is produced by means of the corresponding at least one peripheral segment in such a way that the first volume flow is adapted to the rotation of the flattening device (9) such that the at least one thick point (13) assumes substantially the same position in relation to the flattening device (9).

Process for manufacturing a densified polymer powder comprising compressing a polymer feed that has a bulk density of less than or equal to 240 kg/m in a roll compactor comprising at least two compaction rolls to obtain a densified polymer material, wherein a gap between the two rolls is 0.5 to 10 mm, wherein the compaction rolls operate at a speed of 3 to 30 rpm, wherein an applied pressure of the roll compactor is 0.5 to 5 MPa, and milling the densified polymer material to obtain a densified polymer powder, wherein a bulk density of the densified polymer powder is greater than or equal to 250 kg/m3.
