A device for producing a bone cement dough from a monomer liquid and a cement powder and dispensing the bone cement dough. The device includes a cartridge holding the cement powder in an internal space. A monomer receptacle screws onto the cartridge, forms a chamber, and has a plunger with a passage that is permeable to gases and the monomer liquid but is impermeable to the cement powder and that connects the internal space to the chamber. The plunger tightly closes the internal space with the exception of the passage. A gas supply opening is arranged in the wall of the monomer receptacle. A monomer liquid container holds the monomer liquid and is located in the chamber. An opening facility opens the container, and closes the gas supply opening before opening the container. Also provided is a method for producing and dispensing the bone cement dough.

In one aspect, the apparatus comprises a common fluid source and a plurality of independent, continuous fluidic pathways. Each independent, continuous fluidic pathway comprises a sample chamber and a pneumatic compartment. The sample chamber is connected to the common fluid source, and the pneumatic compartment is connected to the sample chamber. The sample chamber comprises, in part, an assay chamber. The assay chamber comprises a monolithic substrate and a plug having optically transmissive properties. In some embodiments, the assay chamber contains a magnetic mixing element. In some embodiments, the assay chamber is a double tapered chamber. In some embodiments, a ratio of a volume of the sample chamber to a volume of the pneumatic compartment is substantially equivalent for each fluidic pathway of the plurality of fluidic pathways.

The frame comprises: a first handle for gripping with a first hand of a user, the first handle being disposed above a centre of mass of the portable mixing apparatus, when orientated in the first orientation, the first handle extending forwardly of the apparatus over the container; a second handle for gripping with a second hand of the user while the first hand grips the first handle, the second handle being disposed below the centre of mass of the portable mixing apparatus when orientated in the first orientation, the first and second handle being arranged to enable the user to carry the mixing apparatus and re-orientate the apparatus between the first orientation and a second orientation for emptying the components from the container.

According to some embodiments, a system and method for dispensing a floor coating in a specified ratio of multiple components is disclosed. The system and method may set and maintain a desired ratio of the multiple components by controlling, with a controller, a drive rate of respective pumps configured for propelling the components from a reservoir to a mixer or a dispenser. The controller may be responsive to at least one of a measured actual drive rate, an environmental condition, an actual usage of each component, and an operational parameter of the system, for adjusting a drive rate of the respective pumps to compensate for discrepancies that may affect the ratio of the multiple components.

A method and apparatus for generating droplets with a high level of uniformity in liquid systems that present a low interfacial tension. This method and apparatus utilize the breakup of the dispersed phase in a controlled fashion by periodically varying the pressure that drives the fluids so as to successfully generate emulsions with a good control over the size. The method and apparatus can be used for the formation of simple emulsion or double emulsion where a larger droplet contains one or more smaller droplets.

The device has a tubular cartridge with a cylindrical interior. A powder is contained in a front of the cartridge and a container containing a monomer liquid is arranged in a rear of the cartridge. A discharge piston is arranged between the container and the powder, and a conveying piston is on the side of the container opposite the discharge piston. The discharge piston and the conveying piston are arranged in the interior of the cartridge movably in the longitudinal direction. A conduit is provided that connects the front part and the rear part of the interior of the cartridge to one another in a manner permeable for the monomer liquid and for gases and which is impermeable for the powder.
