FORMED ROTARY DRESSER AND DRESSING METHOD
Provided is a formed rotary dresser that has regions in which diamond abrasive grains are scattered and arranged on an outer circumferential surface thereof brought into contact with a grindstone, and slit regions in which the diamond abrasive grains are not arranged on the outer circumferential surface thereof. The plurality of slit regions are provided to be inclined with respect to a rotational axis. A plurality of octahedral diamond abrasive grains are arranged along downstream edges of the slit regions in a rotating direction such that any face of an octahedron is parallel with the outer circumferential surface.
MULTIPURPOSE TOOLING FOR SHAPED PARTICLES
A method of transferring a shaped particle to a substrate includes providing a scrim of at least two elongate strands periodically joined together at flexible bond regions to form an array of apertures between the strands. The scrim is extended along at least one direction to increase the minimum dimension of the apertures. Shaped particles are applied to the extended scrim and at least a portion of the shaped particles enter in at least some of the apertures therein. The extended scrim is relaxed and frictionally retains the particles between the elongate strands. The particle loaded scrim is extended along at least one direction to release and transfer the shaped particles to the substrate in a predetermined orientation.
Pad conditioner having reduced friction and method of manufacturing the same
This invention relates to a conditioner for a chemical mechanical planarization pad, which is necessary for global planarization of a wafer in order to increase the degree of integration of a semiconductor device, and more particularly to a pad conditioner having a structure able to reduce friction with a pad so as to solve the problems caused by a lot of friction being generated upon conditioning, and to a method of manufacturing the same.
ABRASIVE ARTICLE AND METHOD OF USE
A coated abrasive article (10) having a backing (12) and an abrasive coat (20) attached to the backing (12), the abrasive coat (20) comprising a cured abrasive slurry containing a plurality of abrasives particles, wherein the abrasive slurry is soluble such that it retains the abrasive particles on the backing (12) when in its solid state, and releases the abrasive particles from the backing (12) during the process of dissolution to a dissolved state.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MAKING ABRASIVE ARTICLES
In methods and systems of making an abrasive article, abrasive particles are loaded to a distribution tool including a plurality of upper walls defining a plurality of spacing slots, and a plurality of lower walls defining a plurality of distribution slots. The spacing slots are open to the distribution slots, which are open to a lower side of the tool. The loaded particles are spaced and distributed from the distribution tool to a major face of a backing web below the lower side and moving relative to the tool in a machine direction. The upper walls space the particles in the machine direction. The particles distributed by the lower walls undergo an orientation sequence in which each particle is oriented into a column aligned along the machine direction. The upper walls can be disposed oblique to the lower walls. The upper and lower walls can have pointed upper portions.
METHODS AND PRECURSOR FORMULATIONS FOR FORMING ADVANCED POLISHING PADS BY USE OF AN ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING PROCESS
Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to advanced polishing pads with tunable chemical, material and structural properties, and methods of manufacturing the same. According to one or more embodiments, a method for forming or otherwise preparing a polishing article by sequentially forming a plurality of polymer layers is provided and includes: (a) dispensing a plurality of droplets of a polymer precursor composition onto a surface of a previously formed at least partially cured polymer layer, where the polymer precursor composition contains a first precursor component containing an epoxide group and a photoinitiator component which generates a photoacid when exposed to UV light, (b) at least partially curing the plurality of droplets to form an at least partially cured polymer layer, and (c) repeating (a) and (b).
Methods and apparatus for shaping workpieces
Methods and apparatus for shaping workpieces are described in which data representing the surface form of the workpiece is analysed to determine characteristics of curvature of the surface, and these characteristics are used to determine the size and form required for a tool to apply shaping treatment to all parts of the workpiece surface. Measurements of the actual workpiece are then compared with data relating to the required workpiece form, to determine the amount and distribution of material to be removed from the workpiece. A tool path for moving the tool over the workpiece to achieve the required shaping operation is then determined, and the tool and tool path data are provided to a shaping machine to carry out the shaping operation. The shaping tool may comprise an elastomeric body covered in a flexible cloth on which rigid pellets containing abrasive material are fixed. The specification discloses methods of manufacturing such tools, and also discloses methods for conditioning the pelleted cloth. There is also described a method of determining permissible amounts of tool offset to ensure smooth cutting of the workpiece.
FIXED ABRASIVE ARTICLES AND METHODS OF FORMING SAME
A fixed abrasive article having a body including abrasive particles contained within a bond material, the abrasive particles including shaped abrasive particles or elongated abrasive particles having an aspect ratio of length:width of at least 1.1:1, each of the shaped abrasive particles or elongated abrasive particles having a predetermined position or a predetermined three-axis orientation.
ABRASIVE ARTICLE WITH DIFFERENT PLURALITIES OF ABRASIVE PARTICLES
An abrasive article includes a first plurality of abrasive particles and a second plurality of abrasive particles. The first plurality of abrasive particles differ in at least one of a size, an average weight and a shape from the second plurality of abrasive particles. The first plurality of abrasive particles are spaced from the second plurality of abrasive particles by at least a minimum distance in the x-axis direction, and both the first plurality of abrasive particles and the second plurality of abrasive particles extend in similar paths to one another with respect to the y-axis.
ABRASIVE ARTICLE INCLUDING SHAPED ABRASIVE PARTICLES
A shaped abrasive particle including a body having a first major surface, a second major surface, and a side surface joined to the first major surface and the second major surface, and the body has at least one partial cut extending from the side surface into the interior of the body.
