VITREOUS BOND ABRASIVE ARTICLES AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME

Methods of making vitreous bond abrasive articles and their precursors using powder bed jetting are disclosed. Vitreous bond abrasive articles prepared by the method include abrasive articles having arcuate or tortuous cooling channels, unitary structured abrasive discs, abrasive segments, shaped abrasive particles, and abrasive wheels.

Fixed abrasive articles and methods of forming same

A fixed abrasive article having a body including abrasive particles contained within a bond material, the abrasive particles including shaped abrasive particles or elongated abrasive particles having an aspect ratio of length:width of at least 1.1:1, each of the shaped abrasive particles or elongated abrasive particles having a predetermined position or a predetermined three-axis orientation.

SUBSTRATE PROCESSING APPARATUS AND DISPLAY DEVICE USING THE SAME

Various embodiments provide a substrate processing apparatus for grinding a substrate, and a display device including a substrate in which a hole is formed in an edge of the substrate using the substrate processing apparatus. The substrate processing apparatus for processing a display substrate includes a body which, in operation, rotates, a cylindrical grinding part connected to the body, and a lateral groove formed in a surface of the cylindrical grinding part. The lateral groove is configured to accommodate the display substrate. Thus, it is possible to form a hole by grinding an edge of the display substrate so as to be matched with a designed value.

Abrasive disc

An abrasive article including a disc including a central axis; a primary outer edge substantially coaxial with the central axis and having a circumferential length, L.sub.1; a secondary outer edge substantially coaxial with the central axis and coplanar with the primary outer edge, the secondary outer edge having a circumferential length, L.sub.2, wherein L.sub.2 is less than L.sub.1; and a structurally weakened portion extending substantially adjacent to the secondary outer edge. In an embodiment, the abrasive article further includes a shedable portion configured to rupture the structurally weakened portion when the shedable portion is removed from the abrasive disc. In another aspect, an abrasive article having an initial outer circumferential length, L.sub.I, and a length of deliberately exposable circumferential edge surface, L.sub.OE, wherein L.sub.OE is greater than L.sub.I.

Coated abrasive article having rotationally aligned formed ceramic abrasive particles and method of making

A coated abrasive article having a plurality of formed ceramic abrasive particles each having a surface feature. The plurality of formed ceramic abrasive particles attached to a flexible backing by a make coat comprising a resinous adhesive forming an abrasive layer. The surface feature having a specified z-direction rotational orientation, and the specified z-direction rotational orientation occurs more frequently in the abrasive layer than would occur by a random z-direction rotational orientation of the surface feature.

ABRASIVE PARTICLES HAVING PARTICULAR SHAPES AND METHODS OF FORMING SUCH PARTICLES

A coated abrasive article comprising a backing, an adhesive layer disposed in a discontinuous distribution on at least a portion of the backing, wherein the discontinuous distribution comprises a plurality of adhesive contact regions and at least one shaped abrasive particle is disposed on a majority of each of the discrete adhesive contact regions, wherein at least 50% of the shaped abrasive particles comprise a predetermined side orientation and have a tilt angle of at least 45 degrees, wherein the shaped abrasive particles comprise a polycrystalline material and are free of binder, wherein the first plurality of discrete adhesive contact regions comprise a predetermined two-dimensional shape as viewed from above, and wherein each of the discrete contact regions comprises a length, a width, or a combination thereof that substantially corresponds to a dimension of the at least one abrasive particle.

Coated abrasive article having spacer particles, making method and apparatus therefor

Coated abrasive articles having spacer particles are formed by providing a production tool having a dispensing surface with a plurality of cavities, guiding the production tool past an abrasive particle feeder, dispensing shaped abrasive particles onto the dispensing surface and into the plurality of cavities of the production tool, guiding a resin coated backing sheet adjacent the production tool past a spacer particle feeder, and dispensing spacer particles onto the resin coated backing sheet and/or the production tool after the abrasive particle feeder prior to a deposit point for the shaped abrasive particles. The spacer particles are selected to have a thickness that is greater than a thickness of a resin coating of the resin coating backing sheet and a thickness and density once dispensed that are sufficient to substantially prevent the production tool from contacting the resin coated backing sheet at the deposit point.

Microreplicated polishing surface with enhanced co-planarity

An article includes a polishing layer that includes a plurality of raised cells separated by a plurality of channels. Each of the plurality of raised cells includes a microstructured working surface, a substantially vertical channel surface, and an offset surface between an edge of the working surface and an upper edge of the channel surface. The microstructured working surface includes a plurality of microstructures. Tops of the plurality of microstructures define a top plane and bases of the plurality of microstructures define a base plane. The substantially vertical channel surface defines a wall of a channel of the plurality of channels and the channel surface defines a channel plane. The offset surface includes a nonplanar portion of displaced material. The displaced material defines a displacement plane that is below the base plane or within a tolerance of the top plane.
