METHODS AND PRECURSOR FORMULATIONS FOR FORMING ADVANCED POLISHING PADS BY USE OF AN ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING PROCESS
Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to advanced polishing pads with tunable chemical, material and structural properties, and new methods of manufacturing the same. According to one or more embodiments of the disclosure, it has been discovered that a polishing pad with improved properties may be produced by an additive manufacturing process, such as a three-dimensional (3D) printing process. Embodiments of the present disclosure thus may provide an advanced polishing pad that has discrete features and geometries, formed from at least two different materials that include functional polymers, functional oligomers, reactive diluents, addition polymer precursor compounds, catalysts, and curing agents. For example, the advanced polishing pad may be formed from a plurality of polymeric layers, by the automated sequential deposition of at least one polymer precursor composition followed by at least one curing step, wherein each layer may represent at least one polymer composition, and/or regions of different compositions. Embodiments of the disclosure further provide a polishing pad with polymeric layers that may be interpenetrating polymer networks.
COATED ABRASIVE DISC AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING THE SAME
A coated abrasive disc includes a disc backing having an outer circumference. An abrasive layer is disposed on the disc backing. The abrasive layer comprises triangular abrasive platelets secured to a major surface of the disc backing by at least one binder material. The triangular abrasive platelets are disposed at least 70 percent of regularly-spaced points along an arithmetic spiral pattern extending outwardly toward the outer circumference. Each one of the triangular abrasive platelets has respective top and bottom surfaces connected to each other, and separated by, three sidewalls. On a respective basis, one sidewall of at least 90 percent of each of the triangular abrasive platelets disposed facing and proximate to the disc backing, and is lengthwise aligned within 10 degrees of being tangent to the arithmetic spiral pattern. Methods of making and using the coated abrasive disc are also disclosed.
COATED ABRASIVE DISC AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING THE SAME
A coated abrasive disc includes a disc backing and an abrasive layer disposed thereon. The abrasive layer comprises abrasive elements secured to a major surface of the disc backing by at least one binder material. The abrasive elements are disposed at contiguous intersections of horizontal and vertical lines of a rectangular grid pattern. Each abrasive element has two triangular abrasive platelets, each having respective top and bottom surfaces connected to each other, and separated by, three sidewalls. On a respective basis, one sidewall of the triangular abrasive platelets is disposed facing and proximate to the disc backing. A first portion of the abrasive elements is arranged in alternating first rows wherein the triangular abrasive platelets are disposed lengthwise aligned with the vertical lines. A second portion of the abrasive elements is arranged in alternating second rows wherein the triangular abrasive platelets are disposed lengthwise aligned with the horizontal lines. The first and second rows repeatedly alternate along the vertical lines. Methods of making and using the coated abrasive disc are also disclosed.
ABRASIVE ROLL AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING ABRASIVE ROLLER
Object: Provided are an abrasive roll capable of easily improving abrasiveness and a method for manufacturing an abrasive roll. Solution: An abrasive roll (1) includes a core member (12) extending in the axial direction and an abrasive part (13) including a sheet (14) member of non-woven fabric wound a plurality of times around the core member (13), wherein a plurality of perforations (16) penetrating in the thickness direction of the sheet member (14) are formed in the sheet member (14).
ABRASIVE ARTICLE
An abrasive article having a backing layer having a first major surface opposing a second major surface and a plurality of apertures extending from the first major surface to the second major surface. A plurality of abrasive particles having a first end with a smaller dimension than a second end and at least some of the plurality of abrasive particles located in at least some of the plurality of apertures such that the first end of the abrasive particle passes through an individual aperture and extends above the second major surface and the second end of the abrasive particle will not pass through the individual aperture. A binder coating applied to the plurality of abrasive particles retaining them in the backing layer.
Abrasive article
The disclosure relates to layers comprising a body having a thickness, T, comprising a curable composition comprising a polymerizable epoxy-acrylate resin composition and abrasive particles at least partially embedded in the polymerizable epoxy-acrylate resin composition, wherein the body includes a plurality of void spaces free of the curable composition extending into the body from the first major surface and the depth of the plurality of void spaces is at least 10 percent of thickness T. The disclosure also relates to cured compositions formed from such curable compositions and, in turn, abrasive articles made from such cured compositions as well as methods for making abrasive articles.
The triangular abrasive platelets are outwardly disposed at regularly-spaced points along a spiral pattern extending outwardly toward the outer circumference. Each triangular abrasive platelet has respective top and bottom surfaces connected to each other, and separated by, three sidewalls. On a respective basis, one sidewall of at least 90 percent of the triangular abrasive platelets is disposed facing and proximate to the disc backing, and at least 70 percent of the triangular abrasive platelets are disposed in a recurring sequential orientation having an oscillating Z-axis rotational orientation of the first respective sidewall relative to the tangents to the spiral pattern at regularly-spaced points. Methods of making and using the coated abrasive disc are also disclosed.
Substrate processing apparatus and display device using the same
Various embodiments provide a substrate processing apparatus for grinding a substrate, and a display device including a substrate in which a hole is formed in an edge of the substrate using the substrate processing apparatus. The substrate processing apparatus for processing a display substrate includes a body which, in operation, rotates, a cylindrical grinding part connected to the body, and a lateral groove formed in a surface of the cylindrical grinding part. The lateral groove is configured to accommodate the display substrate. Thus, it is possible to form a hole by grinding an edge of the display substrate so as to be matched with a designed value.
