The reconfigurable interface assembly further includes a second sub-assembly attached to the first sub-assembly. The second sub-assembly is adapted for attachment to a work-piece manipulator. The second sub-assembly includes a second brake. The first sub-assembly is configured to move the second sub-assembly in a first direction with respect to the first sub-assembly and the first brake is configured to inhibit movement of the second sub-assembly in the first direction with respect to the first sub-assembly. The second sub-assembly is configured to move the first sub-assembly in a second direction with respect to the second sub-assembly and the second brake is configured to inhibit movement of the first sub-assembly in the second direction with respect to the first sub-assembly.

Clamp
09694475 · 2017-07-04 ·

A clamp suitable for clamping a handle from which a blade extends or a pair of scissors when the blade is being tested or sharpened. The clamp includes a first jaw, a second jaw and a releasable lock if the form of a latch and teeth. At least one of the jaws are able to swing with respect to the other jaw through a hinge mechanism. The first jaw comprises two outer padded parts and a central padded part. The outer and central padded parts are aligned. The central padded part is recessed such that a curved handle or pair of scissors can lay against all three padded parts when clamped. If a straight handle is clamped, the handle only contacts the outer padded parts. The second jaw also comprises padded parts which are inwardly angled for gripping.

Magnetic clamping device for magnetically clamping to a magnetically attracted material and having a dampening means
09679689 · 2017-06-13 ·

There is provided a magnetic clamping device (10) for magnetically clamping to a magnetically attracted material (30). The device comprises at least one permanent clamping magnet (14, 44) for magnetically clamping to the magnetically attracted material wherein the magnet is movable relative to the magnetically attracted material from a position remote from the magnetically attracted material to a clamping position for the clamping of the material by the magnet. The device also includes damping means (22, 24) for damping the movement of the clamping magnet to the clamping position. The damping means biases the clamping magnet away from the magnetically attracted material to assist release of the clamping magnet from the magnetically attracted material. In addition, the device has support means (16, 40, 58) to which the clamping magnet is mounted for the relative movement of the clamping magnet from the remote position to the clamping position and for withdrawing the clamping magnet relative to the magnetically attracted material to release the magnetically attracted material. There is also provided a method for clamping the magnetically attracted material (30) using the clamping device (10). The clamping device may, for example, be a device for securing a load to the magnetically attracted material, a lifting device, a device for holding a work piece in position, or a welding clamp.

ROTARY ACTUATED AXIAL CLAMP
20170157718 · 2017-06-08 ·

Disclosed is a rotary actuated axial clamp that includes a primary fixture, having a rotatable primary clamp, having primary clamp fingers that engage secondary clamp fingers on a stationary secondary clamp. The primary fixture is attached to a positioner, while the secondary fixture is attached to the work piece. Different secondary fixtures can be utilized to fit the shape and size of the work piece, while maintaining a secondary clamp that is able to engage the primary clamp of the primary fixture. The primary fixture can consequently be utilized with numerous different work pieces having different shapes and sizes by simply modifying a secondary fixture to adapt to the size and shape of the work piece. Roller engagement of the primary clamp and secondary clamp reduces the force required to clamp and unclamp the primary and secondary fixtures. This reduces problems associated with attaching a work piece to a positioner.

Wing protection system
09672750 · 2017-06-06 ·

A wing protection system for increasing avoidance of grounded aircraft utilizes a first wing clamp and a second wing clamp to attach to an aircraft wing. The first wing clamp and the second wing clamp are connected to a central support that is used to mount and house an electronics assembly; the electronics assembly including a plurality of sensors, a processor, and a peripheral alert system. The plurality of sensors detects objects approaching the grounded aircraft, while the peripheral alert system provides a visual and audible alert to the presence of the grounded aircraft; the processor receiving signals from the plurality of sensors and dictating appropriate action of the peripheral alert system. A linear actuator is slidably coupled to the first wing clamp, allowing the wing protection system to be fitted to several types of aircraft. A surveillance camera can also be provided for video surveillance of the grounded aircraft.
