Tool for driving a fastener

A hand tool for driving a fastener is provided. The hand tool includes gearing that interconnects a splined socket to a rotatable or trigger actuator and increases a rotational speed of the splined socket relative to the actuator. The hand tool may include a power tool receiver or an independent motor to drive rotation of the splined socket to advance or retract a fastener from a threaded shaft. By increasing the speed and conserving rotational inertia, the hand tool reduces the time to secure a fastener on a threaded shaft. A rotatable nut is provided. The rotatable nut can slideably orient along a first axis and threadedly orient along a second axis to fasten to an adjacent surface.

The present specification discloses a locking fastener that includes a first threaded fastener axially positioned within an axial through hole of a second threaded fastener, and captured therein by a rotating joint that permits rotation of the first threaded fastener and the second threaded fastener relative to one another about a common thread axis. In one or more embodiments, the first threaded fastener thread handedness is opposite to the second threaded fastener thread handedness. Additionally disclosed, is a screwdriver tool configured to simultaneously engage and oppositely rotate the first threaded fastener and the second threaded fastener into a mating component having a first mating thread and a second mating thread configured to receive the first threaded fastener and the second threaded fastener, respectively, driven at the same axial advance distance for each turn. Once tightened, the present locking fastener resists loosening and provides a tamper-resistant hold.

A tool for installing and removing a highly-torqued fastener that allows an individual to easily and efficiently remove or install a bolt from or onto a crankshaft pulley or similar assembly. The tool includes a prismatic housing, a worm gear assembly, a torque input, and a torque output. The prismatic housing is a rigid structure that is used to conceal and protect the worm gear assembly. The torque input allows an individual to manually provide the torque force through the use of a ratchet tool, motor drive, or other similar tool. The torque output is able to receive a bolt socket in order for the tool to provide the torque force to a bolt of a crankshaft pulley. The worm gear assembly is used to transfer the torque force from the torque input to the torque output. Thus, the tool can easily remove or install a bolt.
