An impact tool of the present disclosure provides an impact mechanism having a hammer and an anvil, the hammer being rotatable about a first axis and to periodically impact the anvil to drive rotation of the anvil about the first axis. The electric motor includes a plurality of pole pairs of windings and a rotor that is rotatable with respect to consecutively energized pole pairs of windings. No encoder or sensor is electronically coupled to the electric motor to detect a position of at least one magnet attached to the rotor with respect to at least one pole pair when the rotor is in a stopped condition. When the rotor is in the stopped condition, the motor controller energizes the at least one pole pair to initiate rotation and detect a back EMF generated by movement of the rotor without a sensor or encoder to indicate the predetermined location of the at least one magnet attached to the rotor with respect to the at least one pole pair.

The present disclosure provides an impact wrench for detaching bolts or nuts together with socket. The impact wrench includes a pole, a driving member, an elastic member, and a connecting portion. The driving member is slidably and rotatably disposed to one end of the pole. The other end of the pole has a sleeving portion which may be a rectangular hole. The elastic member presses against the driving member and the pole to make the driving member continuously moving away from the sleeving portion. The connecting portion is configured on the pole or on the driving member. The connecting portion is adapted for a handle to be assembled thereon. Therefore, power tool may be attached to the sleeving portion to provide rotational impulse to detach bolts or nuts. User may hole the impact wrench by a handle which is assembled on the connecting portion, achieving convenience and safety operation condition.

The locking mechanism comprises a slider (22) operable to engage a nut or a bolt head in the ring socket; a channel (24) for guiding movement of the slider towards and away from the ring socket; and an actuator (30,74) manually operable to move the slider with respect to the ring socket. The channel (24) opens into the ring socket (36) via an internal periphery (40) of the ring socket. The locking mechanism comprises a resilient member (34) biasing the slider (22) towards a nut or a bolt head (NBH, NBH) in the ring socket (36).
