Portable water collection and filtering device
A portable water collection and filtering device is described. Such water may be collected from irrigation runoff (e.g., excess water from a sprinkler system for watering a lawn or other landscaping that may run along a street gutter), rainwater (e.g., water travelling along a roof gutter, through a downspout, etc.). The portable water collection and filtering device may be able to couple to a collection resource such as an empty bottle. In this way, small amounts of runoff may be captured, stored, and utilized (e.g., to water plants). Such captured water may be provided to various other devices and/or systems (e.g., a treatment system, a larger storage unit, etc.).
Modular system for waste treatment, water recycling, and resource recovery in a space environment
A modular system for waste treatment, water recycling, and resource recovery includes a buffer tank to receive and pre-treat raw organic waste, at least one reactor tank configured as an anaerobic bioreactor that receives and digests pre-treated waste from the buffer tank, a membrane module having a membrane configured to filter waste from the digested waste from the at least one reactor tank to produce a permeate, a permeate collection tank configured to collect and store the permeate generated by the membrane module, a pump system having a plurality of pumps, and a control system configured to monitor the flow of waste and to control the pump system to control the flow of waste between the buffer tank, the at least one reactor tank, the membrane module, and the permeate collection tank.
System and method for removing nitrate from water
The present application relates to a system for removal of nitrate from water. The system includes a first reactor comprising a porous oxide-derived silver electrode (OD-Ag) for electrocatalytic reduction of nitrate (NO.sub.3.sup.?) to nitrite (NO.sub.2.sup.?) and a second reactor comprising a Pd-based catalyst for catalytic reduction of nitrite (NO.sub.2.sup.?). Also disclosed is a method of removing nitrate from water.
Compact waste combustion system
A compact waste combustion system deployed within a portable toilet has a burn chamber that includes a processor, a burner, a trapdoor mechanism configured to seal an entrance to the burn chamber when the compact waste combustion system is operated in a first mode and a waste receptacle configured to feed waste material to the burn chamber through the trapdoor mechanism in a second mode of operation. The processor may be configured to detect presence of a waste in the waste receptacle, configure the system to operate in the second mode and to pass waste into the burn chamber, configure the compact waste combustion system to operate in the first mode after the waste has passed into the burn chamber, and activate the burner when the compact waste combustion system is operated in the first mode and the waste is located in the burn chamber.
Atomizer for use in water treatment and method for its use
An atomizer for use in a water treatment system includes an influent inlet, to receive a flow of fluid containing contaminants a gas flow inlet, to receive a flow of gas to be mixed with the fluid in a mixing zone, an airflow controlling component, including an array of vanes disposed between the gas flow inlet and the mixing zone to impart a rotational component to a direction of flow of the gas. A channel receives the flow of fluid containing contaminants, and conducts the flow of fluid containing contaminants to the mixing zone, wherein radially outwardly flowing fluid containing contaminants is mixed with radially inwardly flowing gas to atomize the fluid containing contaminants, and an outlet.
System and process for removing polyfluorinated pollutants from water
A water treatment system is disclosed. The water treatment system comprises a filtration module comprising one or more ultrafiltration membrane configured to remove one or more non-PFAS contaminant from a PFAS contaminated water stream to provide a partially purified water stream containing soluble PFAS contaminants. The water treatment system also comprises a sorption module comprising one or more sorption units comprising a sorbent material, the sorption module being in fluid communication with the filtration module and downstream therefrom and configured to remove substantially all PFAS contaminants from the partially purified water stream to provide purified water that is substantially free from PFAS contamination.
Double-filter basket for stormwater retention system drain
A stormwater management system comprising a floor having a drainage opening and a filter. The filter is operatively attached to a portion of the floor adjacent the drainage opening such that the filter covers the drainage opening so that water flowing from the stormwater management system into the drainage opening passes through the filter. The filter has a filter area adapted to permit stormwater to flow therethrough, with the filter area of the filter being at least twice as large as the drainage opening area.
Multiple chamber septic tank with a plurality of large and small access ports
A septic tank system includes a multiple compartmented (or chambered) supplemental tank. The supplemental tank has a cover/lid with a plurality of strategically situated access holes (both small and large ports) for servicing the various chambers from above ground.
Integrated method for clearance, collection and capture of internal pollutants and algae in a surface layer of the lake bottom
An integrated method for clearance, collection and capture of internal pollutants and algae at the bottom of a lake include the following steps: selecting areas where the pollution level is high, and organic or inorganic particulate matter is prone to accumulation and carrying out trenching operations at the bottom of the lake to form a plurality of traps; and removing the sludge and algae inside the traps and clearing the sediment inside the traps, for subsequent internal pollution control when the surface-layer sludge on both sides of the traps almost fills up the traps. This method makes use of the hydrodynamic disturbances of waves formed by natural wind energy and lake currents to continuously transport sludge with a high pollution level and a small specific gravity and algae in the surface layer of the lake bottom, which are rich in organic debris, to artificially built traps.
Irrigation water recirculation system
An irrigation recirculation system and methods of filtering and cleaning water within the irrigation recirculation system. The system includes an above the ground water source and a fluid flow conduit that conveys the water into a filter element within a basin. The filter element separates solids from the water by causing the water to change direction before continuing on a fluid flow path. The water is then stored and distributed by a self-cleaning storage system that convey the filtered water to sprinkler heads of the irrigation system.
