TOOL WITH CHARGE ADVANCE MECHANISM
A powder actuated fastening tool including a charge advance apparatus for advancing a powder charge strip relative to a barrel of the tool, wherein the charge advance apparatus includes a rotatable ratchet having teeth for engaging receptacles formed in the powder charge strip, and a charge advance member coupled to a trigger of the tool, wherein the charge advance member acts on the rotatable ratchet to rotate the ratchet in response to actuation and/or release of the trigger, such that the rotation of the ratchet causes advance of the powder charge strip relative to the barrel.
Spike tray head with replaceable wear plates
Methods and apparatus are disclosed for tray heads and wear plates for tray heads for a railroad spike dispenser. An example wear plate set includes a first wear plate configured to couple to a first sloped surface of a first wall of a tray head. The first wear plate defines a first sloped wear edge along which a head of a railroad spike is to slide when the first wear plate is coupled to the first wall and a shank of the railroad spike travels through a channel. A second wear plate is configured to removably couple to a second sloped surface of a second wall of the tray head. The second wear plate defines a second sloped wear edge along which the head is to slide when the second wear plate is coupled to the second wall and the shank of the railroad spike travels through the channel.

INSERT FOR PALM STAPLER, A PALM STAPLER AND A METHOD OF USE THEREOF
A battery-operated palm stapler, an insert for holding a fastener, and a method of installing a fastener using the palm stapler. The stapler includes a housing with a telescoping barrel extending outwardly therefrom. An insert is engaged in the barrel's bore and is held in place by magnets. The insert body defines a slot for receiving fasteners therein. The slot extends from a top wall of the body to a bottom wall thereof. At least one magnet is provided in the body adjacent the slot and is used to hold fasteners in a correct orientation for installation. A sensor probe provided in the body is operable to detect if voltage is carried in electrical cables adjacent which fasteners are to be installed. The probe deactivates a hammer actuating mechanism if voltage is detected. Inserts holding different types of fastener may be selectively engaged with the palm stapler.
