Method and device for measuring a tubular strand
A method for measuring a tubular strand exiting from an extrusion device comprises directing electromagnetic radiation from an inside of the tubular strand to an inner side of a tubular strand. The electromagnet radiation is radiated from at least one radiation source within a frequency range from 1 GHz to 6000 GHz. The electromagnetic radiation is reflected off of the tubular strand and received by at least one radiation receiver. A value for at least one of a diameter, a wall thickness, and a deviation in shape of the tubular strand is determined from the electromagnetic radiation received by at least one radiation receiver.

The invention relates to a system (10) for improved introduction of a separating device (40) into a flattened film tube (2) of a blown film line (1), with a cutting device (20) for severing only a first tube side (2.1) of the film tube (2), in particular the film tube (2) which has not yet been flattened. Furthermore, the invention relates to a blown film line (1), as well as a method (100) for producing and providing at least two film webs (6).
Molded foam
The present invention relates to molded foam having no hollow space caused in a plate-shaped portion. The molded foam comprises a tube body and a plate-shaped portion joined to the outer side of the tube body. The expansion ratio of the molded foam is lower than two, and a value of a thickness B/a thickness A as a relationship between the thickness A of the tube body at the periphery of a point joined to the plate-shaped portion and the thickness B of the plate-shaped portion is less than 2.82.
Lightweight polyethylene film for aseptic packaging applications and the product resulting therefrom and the process of making the same
A multilayer foam film comprising high density polyethylene for direct and non-direct food contact and aseptic packaging application is disclosed. In an embodiment, the film has a bulk density of less than 0.962 gr/cm.sup.3 wherein more than 50% of the cells in the foam layer are closed cells. In an embodiment, the foam films are thick (generally more than 8 mils thick) and have a bending stiffness value of more than 18, in Taber stiffness unit configuration according to TAPPI/ANSI T 489 om-15, and the ratio of the mass per unit area (the mass of a unit area of the film in gram per meter-squared (gr/m.sup.2)) over the stiffness value in Taber unit configuration is equal to or less than 13. In an embodiment, the film has a very smooth surface with a smoothness value of less than 25 in Sheffiled smoothness unit configuration according to TAPPI T 538. The described foam film can have a water vapor transmission rate value of less than 1 gr/m.sup.2/24 hr, according to ASTM E398-13. The described foam film can have an oxygen transmission rate value of less than 10 cc/m.sup.2/24 hr, according to ASTM D3985.
Therapeutic, fitness, and sports enhancement device
A therapeutic, fitness, and sports enhancement device which includes a cylindrically shaped body having a predetermined density and predetermined diameter, the body including a plurality of projections of a predetermined shape. One or more of the predetermined density and the predetermined diameter in combination with the predetermined shape of the projections optimize mobilization of soft tissue structures of the human body.
Extruded aliphatic polyketone permeation barrier for spoolable composite pipes
Spoolable composite pipes for oil and gas flowlines may include an inner extruded tubular liner, a reinforcement layer surrounding the inner extruded tubular liner, and an outer extruded tubular cover surrounding the reinforcement layer. In these spoolable composite pipes, the inner extruded tubular liner may include an aliphatic polyketone. Internally lined pipes for oil and gas flowlines for oil and gas flowlines may include inner extruded tubular liner containing an aliphatic polyketone, and a carbon steel pipe surrounding the inner extruded tubular liner. The spoolable composite pipes and the internally lined pipes may be configured to operate at temperatures of up to about 110 C., and to carry hydrocarbons having an aromatic content of up to about 35% by volume of the total hydrocarbons content.

External cooling air ring for blown-film extrusion
An air ring comprises a circular plenum in fluid communication with a source of pressurized air. An upper and lower annular lips are in fluid communication with the plenum through upper and lower channels and are arranged to supply air to the blown film bubble. A plurality of vanes are disposed in the upper channel and extend radially inwardly from the plenum to the upper annular lip. The vanes divide the upper channel into a plurality of radially extending channel segments. Each vane has a selected length and a distal end proximal the upper annular lip, the distal end being spaced from the upper annular lip no greater than about 20% of the length of the vanes. A powered plunger extends between the vanes of each of the channel segments to vary the cross-sectional area of the channel segments.

System and method for inspecting fused plastic pipes
A method and apparatus for testing a fuse between plastic pipes within a fusion socket performed in the field includes a source of X-ray radiation and a scanning plate that has pixels that change state when exposed to this radiation. The source of the X-ray radiation is positioned on one side of the fuse and the scanning plate is positioned on another side so that the x-ray radiation passes through the fuse. After exposure, the x-ray image from the scanning plate is analyzed visually or algorithmically to find internal voids, weak fuses, and evidence of movement after the plastic of the fitting/pipes melted and flowed together. With such, the quality of the fitting is evident without cutting or otherwise destroying the fitting and, therefore, only weak or otherwise compromised fittings need be cut and redone.
