The accessory includes a housing having a body and a plurality of arms extending therefrom, a ball detent selectively engagable with the spindle to lock the accessory to the power tool, a sleeve slidable along the arms between a first position in which the sleeve biases the ball detent into engagement with the spindle to axially secure the accessory to the tool, and a second position in which the ball detent is disengageable from the spindle to release the accessory from the tool, and a second mating member coupled to the arms of the housing.

When the mounting operation portion receives the mounting operation, the retaining portion cancels retaining of the clamp moving portion at the second position.

Included are: a clamp configured to switch between a mounting state in which a tip tool is mounted and a releasing state in which the tip tool is removed; a clamp moving portion configured to move between a first position at which the clamp is in the mounting state and a second position at which the clamp is in the releasing state; a clamp urging portion configured to urge the clamp moving portion to the first position; a case accommodating at least a part of each of the clamp, the clamp moving portion, and the clamp urging portion; a retaining portion configured to retain the clamp moving portion at the second position; and a mounting operation portion configured to receive mounting operation for switching the clamp from the releasing state to the mounting state. When the mounting operation portion receives the mounting operation, the retaining portion cancels retaining of the clamp moving portion at the second position.

The partitioning plate has an air guiding window for delivering cooling air taken in from the air intake port to an opening for sucking air on the front side of the motor through a space between the motor and body casing. The control board is disposed on the rear side of the partitioning plate.

The present disclosure provides a method for controlling a surgical instrument.
