Disclosed is a plastic powder for use as a building material for the additive manufacturing of a three-dimensional object by selective solidification of the building material at the points corresponding to the cross-section of the three-dimensional object in the respective layer by exposure to radiation, wherein the plastic powder comprises polymer-based particles and an additive for imparting biodegradability in an amount of 0.05 to 5% by weight based on the weight of the polymeric components in the polymer-based powder. Further disclosed is a method for the production of such powder, methods for the production of three dimensional objects using such powder as well as three dimensional objects, which have been prepared accordingly, as well as the use of corresponding additives to impart biodegradability to three dimensional objects, which have been prepared accordingly.

The method includes at least the following steps: coating a first mold cavity of a molding tool with a curable, flowable and/or sprayable plastic material to form a first casing shell, coating a second mold cavity of the molding tool with the curable, flowable and/or sprayable plastic material to form a second casing shell, inserting a pre-produced filling body into the first casing shell located in the first mold cavity, and joining together of the first and second casing shells located in the first mold cavity and in the second mold cavity before the plastic material cures or fully reacts.
System and method for producing spray foam insulated pipe with channels, tubes or conduits
A length of a main pipe is provided. The main pipe has an internal surface and an external surface. A plurality of channels, tubes or conduits is attached to the external surface of the main pipe and spaced about a circumference thereof. A spray foam insulation is applied to the external surface of the main pipe. Prior to curing the spray foam insulation, a compressive force is applied against an exposed outer surface of the spray foam insulation to prevent a bulge from forming over the channels, tubes or conduits so that the outer surface of the insulation has a uniform radius.

A plug apparatus for sealing an interior of a duct for use in a process for forming an insulated register box has a frame, a shaft extending outwardly of the of the frame, and a plurality of layers of flexible material radiating outwardly of the shaft adjacent to an end of the shaft opposite the frame. The plurality of layers of flexible material are adapted to have an outer periphery bearing against an interior surface of the duct. Each layer of flexible material has an outer diameter greater than an inner diameter of the duct. The flexible material is formed of a neoprene material. The frame is affixed to a support surface having an opening therein. The opening is adapted to receive an outer diameter of the duct therein.
System and method for automatically setting parameters for foam production
A method sets machine parameters of a foam production machine. The foam production machine includes an intermediate conveyance unit configured to receive a reactive mixture, a plurality of fall plates having vertically adjustable ends and configured to receive the reactive mixture from the intermediate conveyance unit, and a conveyor configured to receive the reactive mixture from the fall plates. The method includes executing software by a computer system, where executing the software includes importing characteristics of the foam production machine and a rise profile for the reactive mixture, and iteratively determining process and machine parameters, including reactive mixture flow rate, conveyor speed, a dimension of the intermediate conveyance unit, and vertical positions for the ends of each fall plate resulting in a predefined predicted profile of the reactive mixture on the plurality of fall plates.
Multilayer dental appliances and related methods and systems
A dental appliance for positioning a patient's teeth includes a removable orthodontic tooth positioning appliance having teeth receiving cavities shaped to directly receive at least some of the patient's teeth and apply a resilient positioning force to the patient's teeth. The appliance includes a hard polymer layer having a hard polymer layer elastic modulus disposed between a first soft polymer layer having a first soft polymer layer elastic modulus and a second soft polymer layer having a second soft polymer layer elastic modulus. The hard polymer layer elastic modulus is greater than each of the first soft polymer layer elastic modulus and the second soft polymer layer elastic modulus. At least one of the first soft polymer layer and the second soft polymer layer has a flexural modulus of greater than about 35,000 psi.
