Aerospace structure methods of manufacturing

Methods of manufacturing of aerospace structures are disclosed. More specifically, methods of manufacturing relatively lightweight yet strong aerospace structures. In one embodiment, the method includes the addition of a volume of a rigid and flexible polyurethane mixture into a mold to create a composite structure. In one aspect, the method includes the integration of special structures within a larger structure to remove traditionally structurally weak or vulnerable areas.

Aspects hereof provide methods for molding a single-phase solution comprised of a polymer composition and a gas. The polymer composition and the gas are maintained under pressure during the molding operation to prevent a cellular structure from being formed by the dissolved gas in the polymer composition coming out of solution. The mold cavity in which the single-phase solution is introduced for molding purposes is pressurized to a mold pressure that is sufficient to maintain the single-phase solution as a single-phase solution as the mold cavity is filled. Subsequent to filling the mold cavity with the single-phase solution under pressure, the resulting article may be exposed to a reduction in pressure causing the entrapped gas to form a cellular structure.

In-mold spraying system and process method

For in mold spraying, a double-inclined mixing nozzle is connected obliquely and fixedly with a side surface of a third half-mold through a lateral sealing structure and connected with a side surface of a first half-mold in an inclined and sealing manner, side faces of a first half-mold and the third half-mold are respectively provided with installation inclined surfaces. A lateral sealing structure includes a mounting plate and a sealing member. The sealing member is sleeved on the double-inclined mixing nozzle and is in transition fit with the double-inclined mixing nozzle and the mounting plate respectively. A butt sealing groove provided on the installation inclined surface of the first half-mold and is in sealing fit with the mounting plate.

Method of shaping a cured thermosetting resin

The present invention relates to a method of shaping a cured thermosetting resin substrate, and more particularly to a method of shaping a cured thermosetting resin using electromagnetic radiation, said method comprises providing a cured thermosetting resin substrate; providing a confined temperature controlling environment; placing the cured thermosetting resin substrate in the confined temperature controlling environment; providing a source of electromagnetic radiation; irradiating the cured thermosetting resin substrate in the confined temperature controlling environment; and shaping the irradiated thermosetting resin substrate.

Simulated surgical system, simulated vessel, and methods of making the same and related components

Simulated anatomical components, such as simulated vascular vessels, produced by a method that includes forming an anatomical component mold from a soluble polymer such that the mold defines an interior void of the simulated anatomical component. One or more layers of an elastomeric material is applied around the anatomical component mold and the material is allowed to cure to form a wall of the simulated anatomical component. At least a portion of the mold is dissolved to form a passage for liquid within the simulated anatomical component. Simulated anatomical components are connectable to other components of a surgical simulation system and can be modularized.
