Method and apparatus for producing an elastic profile with longitudinally recurring transverse protrusions
A method of producing an elastic profile with longitudinally recurring transverse protrusions includes extruding a primary profile at a primary extruder; extruding a secondary profile at a secondary extruder, the secondary profile includes a substrate layer and transverse protrusions, the secondary extruder includes an extrusion die, wherein a rotating molding wheel forms a wall of the extrusion die, the molding wheel having recesses functioning as molds for the transverse protrusions within the extrusion die; joining the primary profile and the substrate layer of the secondary profile at a joining point for fusion bonding forming a composite structure. A rotating pressing wheel, may press on the composite structure against a bedding separate from the molding wheel. The primary profile may travel along an entirely straight path from the primary extruder to the joining point. The joining occurs at a nip formed between the molding wheel and a flat and stationary bedding.
Separator for lithium-ion secondary battery
Problem: The invention provides a separator for a lithium-ion secondary battery exhibiting excellent strength, wettability with nonaqueous electrolyte solutions, voltage endurance and cycle characteristics in lithium-ion secondary batteries, and a method of increasing the puncture depth of the separator. Solution: A separator for a lithium-ion secondary battery is formed of a microporous film comprising a polyolefin resin (A) as a major component, and a resin (B), at least portions of the surfaces of the micropores in the microporous film being coated with resin (B).
Ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer composition, ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer composition for melt forming, pellets, and multilayer structure
An ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer composition contains: (A) an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer; (B) a long Periodic Table 4th-period d-block metal compound; and (C) an iron compound; wherein the iron compound (C) is present in an amount of 0.01 to 5 ppm on a metal basis based on the weight of the ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer composition. The ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer composition exhibits improved impact resistance and heat stability (color tone deterioration-suppressing effect and coloration-suppressing effect).
Lightweight polyethylene film for aseptic packaging applications and the product resulting therefrom and the process of making the same
A multilayer foam film comprising high density polyethylene for direct and non-direct food contact and aseptic packaging application is disclosed. In an embodiment, the film has a bulk density of less than 0.962 gr/cm.sup.3 wherein more than 50% of the cells in the foam layer are closed cells. In an embodiment, the foam films are thick (generally more than 8 mils thick) and have a bending stiffness value of more than 18, in Taber stiffness unit configuration according to TAPPI/ANSI T 489 om-15, and the ratio of the mass per unit area (the mass of a unit area of the film in gram per meter-squared (gr/m.sup.2)) over the stiffness value in Taber unit configuration is equal to or less than 13. In an embodiment, the film has a very smooth surface with a smoothness value of less than 25 in Sheffiled smoothness unit configuration according to TAPPI T 538. The described foam film can have a water vapor transmission rate value of less than 1 gr/m.sup.2/24 hr, according to ASTM E398-13. The described foam film can have an oxygen transmission rate value of less than 10 cc/m.sup.2/24 hr, according to ASTM D3985.
Thermoplastic mounting medium and a method of its manufacture
A thermoplastic mounting medium (25) configured for embedding and subsequently fixating a sample material (10) in a moulding cavity (11) by means of sintering or melting the thermoplastic mounting medium (25) to become a monolithic bulk material at least partially accommodating said sample material (10) The thermoplastic mounting medium (25) includes a mixture of: polymer mixed with organic fibres, and thermally conductive filler having a thermal conductivity of minimum 5 W/(mK) wherein the thermally conductive filler is mixed homogeneously with the composite material and wherein that the thermally conductive filler represents at least 30% w. of the thermoplastic mounting medium.
Cavitated polyolefin films and methods of production thereof
Provided is a feedstock comprising a polyolefin homopolymer such as polypropylene, polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) and a pigment having a refractive index of at least 1.5 complexed by maleic anhydride functionalized polypropylene (MAH-PP). Further provided are polyolefin films having a cavitated layer comprising the feedstock and methods of making such films.
Antifouling method for polysilicon
An antifouling method for polysilicon includes using a tube-shaped resin sheet having an inner surface and an outer surface to prevent the fouling of polysilicon, in which the tube-shaped resin sheet or a resin sheet cut out of the tube-shaped resin sheet is held, with the inner surface being kept in an unexposed state, and the inner surface is exposed just before use and brought into contact with the polysilicon.

The present invention relates to an automotive part (such as an exterior automotive part, a semi-exterior automotive part or an interior automotive part) prepared from a thermoplastic composition comprising: from 48-95 wt. % based on the weight of the composition of a heterophasic propylene copolymer; wherein said heterophasic propylene copolymer consists of i) a propylene-based matrix consisting of a propylene homopolymer and/or a propylene--olefin copolymer, said propylene -olefin copolymer consisting of at least 70 wt. %, and ii) a dispersed ethylene--olefin copolymer comprising ethylene and at least one C3 to C10 -olefin; from 0-20 wt. %, preferably from 1-20 wt. % ethylene--olefin elastomer comprising ethylene and a C3 to C10 -olefin; from 1-30 wt. % high aspect ratio; from 0.05-2 wt. % antioxidant additive selected from the group consisting of i) a tocopherol or a tocotrienol; or ii) a hydroxylamine from 0-3 wt. % an additional additive.

A method for forming an article includes providing a sheet of material, optionally conditioning the sheet with a surface of a roller, forming the sheet to provide a web, and separating an article from the web to provide the article. An apparatus adapted to form the article from a sheet is provided.
Method for manufacturing an application member for applying liquid cosmetic product, application member and applicator
The disclosure provides a method of fabricating an applicator member for applying a liquid cosmetic, the method comprising a step of making a porous core out of sintered material and a step of overmolding a shell on the porous core, the shell including at least one inlet orifice for admitting liquid cosmetic into the core and at least one dispenser orifice for dispensing liquid cosmetic by means of the core. The disclosure also provides an applicator member obtained by the method and an applicator comprising such an applicator member and a reservoir.
