Multipurpose shears
12251844 · 2025-03-18 ·

Foldable, multipurpose shears can have a pair of shearing blades, each blade having a sharp side and a blunt side. The blades are connected to handles via a hinge, and the handles have one side that is straighter and another side that is more rounded or irregularly shaped. One of the blades includes a backward facing hook on the blade's blunt side. Additionally, the blunt side may have partially sharpened serrations. The blades can fold about the hinge for easier transport and storage and the shears are configured so that the hook does not extend past the handles when folded.

A switch-free multi-cutting mode shearing tool includes a shearer including a first handle and a second handle pivotally connected together, a cutter blade pivoted to the first handle, a link pivoted to the second handle, and a pushing element mounted at the second handle. The cutter blade has a cutting edge protruding over a front end of the first handle, an actuation portion projecting between the first and second handles, an elongated slot located in the actuation portion and a plurality of engagement grooves inside the elongated slot. The link has a pin located at a movable end thereof and inserted into and movable along the elongated slot and selectively engageable into one of the engagement grooves, such that when the first and second handles are closed toward each other, the pushing element is forced to touch and push the actuation portion of the cutter blade.

Cutting assemblies for use in cutting tubing

A cutting assembly for cutting tubing generally includes first and second arms pivotally coupled together such that the first arm can pivot relative to the second arm, and a blade releasably coupled to the first arm and/or the second arm and oriented such that a longitudinal axis of the blade is generally parallel to a longitudinal axis of the first arm. The blade is removable from the first arm and/or the second arm by sliding the blade longitudinally in a direction along the longitudinal axis of the first arm. A release mechanism operates to selectively allow the blade to be removed from the first arm and/or the second arm.

Designs and methods of operation for balitools such as balisongs, butterfly knives, and baliscissors. Two cylindrical locking pins that connect the handles and the tool or blade(s) have semicylindrical protuberances that are trapezoidally arranged. This enables both the use of tapered handles and smooth rotation of the handles with respect to the tool or blade(s) while requiring only a single button assembly to switch between different modes such as pocket mode, in which the handles are locked covering the tool or blade(s); bali mode, in which the tool or blade(s) can swing freely relative to the handles (and, for baliscissors, the scissor blades are locked together); and, for baliscissors, scissors mode, in which each scissors blade is locked to one of the handles.

A cutting tool comprises a first handle, a second handle, a first cutting part comprising a first cutting blade and a first fastening section extending away from the first cutting blade, a second cutting part comprising a second cutting blade and a second fastening section extending away from the second cutting blade, and a biasing means configured to pre-tension the first cutting blade and the second cutting blade away from each other. The first cutting part and the second cutting part are pivotably coupled to each other at a pivot point. The first fastening section is inserted into the first handle, and the second fastening section is inserted into the second handle. The first handle is fixedly coupled with the first fastening section by the biasing means, and the second handle is fixedly coupled with the second fastening section by the biasing means.
